The American Heart Association has an excellent opportunity for a Senior Epidemiologist based out of our National Center (Home Based/ Remote work options are acceptable).

 

The Sr Epidemiologist will contribute to an expanding and vibrant research portfolio at the American Heart Association in community epidemiology. Areas of interest include social determinants of health, life-course risk factors, cardiovascular disease and stroke, nutrition, physical activity, healthy aging, brain disease, and multigenerational studies. The successful candidates will facilitate ongoing research projects in large multigenerational epidemiologic studies. The successful candidate will establish surveys for use in large consumer health networks focused on nutrition, physical activity, mental health, and cardiovascular diseases, brain diseases and stroke. They will be expected to establish to serve as Principal Investigators on multiple grants focused in community epidemiology. Develops and applies research methodologies to analyze, evaluate and quantify health data, and develop surveys for patient-centered registries like Research Goes Red.

Responsibilities Conducts scientific research (develop and test novel hypotheses), analysis and evaluation of health data and health data sources;Develops and refines patient-centered survey questionnaires and programming field tools;Maintains library of validated cardiovascular health, healthy lifestyle, and food/nutrition surveys/questionnaires for patient-centered registriesDevelop, revises or makes recommendation to change research protocols, health data sources and research methodologies.Contributes to creation of presentations, manuscripts, and funding proposals;Performs assigned tasks requiring the application of American Heart Association  research procedures and techniques; runs and enhances existing models, seeks out, extract and cleans data; Works with cross-functional teams to provide insights and subject matter expertise that support recruitment, engagement and retention strategies with a focus reaching diverse audiences.Evaluates research data to establish significance to the problem(s) being studied, and may develop new hypotheses and questions from the results
