Department OverviewMotorola Solution's Video Division designs, develops, and manufactures advanced AI, video analytics, network video management software and hardware, surveillance cameras, and access control solutions that help change the way people interact with their security systems.
Job Description

We are seeking a Senior Firmware Engineer who analyzes, develops, designs, and maintains software for the organization’s products and systems. Performs system integration of software and hardware to maintain throughout and program consistency. Develops, validates, and tests: structures and user documentation.

Responsibilities include:

Design and implement sophisticated scalable multi-threaded Object Oriented Software in C++ for solving challenging problems involving high speed data processing and networkingDesign advanced software modules that follow modern C++ design patternsApply C programming skills for Linux device driver development and debuggingApply problem solving skills and experience to identify and improve low-level system performance issuesCreate design documents on software architecture and algorithmsMaintain and improve Firmware build system using Make and PythonReview code of peers for adherence to coding standards and design guidelinesEstimate and track time and effort necessary for completing implementation tasksReview Marketing and Product Requirements Document during feasibility and developmentAbility to work and communicate well across different design centers, engineering teams and partnersCollaborate with Quality Assurance team on identifying test cases for new features and areas for regression testsFollow the established development process for all design and implementation tasksProvides mentorship and coaching to junior developersPreference will be given to candidates with experience in ONVIF and interfacing with multiple 3rd party VMS’

Qualifications:

5+ years of firmware or embedded development experienceStrong C and C++ design and programming skills for embedded applicationsFirm grasp of operating system concepts including processes, threads, mutexes, interrupt handling, and exception handlingExperience with C/C++ compilation and debugging toolsExperience with scripting languages, build systems, and version control systemsExcellent written and oral communication skillDegree in Computer or Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical disciplineExperience with development in a Linux environment for ARM target processorsUnderstanding of embedded design considerations including C/C++ memory management, microprocessor architectures, instruction efficiency, and I/O timingKnowledge of digital imaging/photography and audio/video coding

The base salary range for this position in California and Colorado is $110,000 - $125,000 depending on experience.
