Summary – basic function of the role This position is responsible for the global design, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of Enerpac’s global transportation network and development of our logistics network strategy. The Senior Global Transportation Manager will be responsible for analyzing the logistics and transportation network including costs, service, capabilities. etc.. Additionally, this position will be responsible for establishing, managing, and improving transportation costs throughout the business and managing our transportation partner relationships. This position will report to the Sr. Director, Materials Management and SIOP. Job Duties and Responsibilities Develop, implement, evaluate and continuously enhance and optimize our global transportation network design and delivery strategy with all activities connected to transportation including receiving, storing, shipping, transporting, and invoicing product to meet customer requirements. Responsible for the selection and implementation of new freight forwarders, carriers, or 3PLP’s. Lead air, ocean, road freight, and small parcel RFQ’s across all Enerpac locations. Create, negotiate, and manage contracts with logistics partners. Continualyl drive cost savings and other improvements throughout the transportation network through RFQ’s, service improvements, process improvements, etc. Establish, maintain and monitor transportation KPI’s and reports including but not limited to spend, savings, OTD, claims, etc. Develop and execute action plans for metrics not meeting expectations. Manage freight bill audit and payment processes. Verify freight invoice accuracy, develop exception-based processes, and execute monthly financial accrual process. Monitor and maintain operational and performance review meetings with transportation partners through meetings with internal stakeholders and external carrier/partners via Quarterly Business Review (QBR) process. Collaborate with other departments, such as sales, marketing, finance, purchasing, materials management, and IT, to ensure alignment and integration of logistics objectives and initiatives. Partner with procurement and materials management teams to develop processes and work instructions that drive carrier compliance to optimize cost and best practice sharing. Ensure warehouse and transportation operations comply with policies, laws, and regulations including but not limited to OSHA, EPA, FDA, FCC, and DOT. Be a Subject Matter Expert (SME) to advise leadership and stakeholders regarding the logistics marketplace and impacts to internal and external shareholders. Analyze and report on market trends, customer needs, and competitive intelligence. Own and manage the relationship with all carriers/partners. Act as a point of escalation for operational issues. Address operational or carrier/partner performance issues. Provide leadership, guidance, and coaching to foster a culture of continuous improvement and innovation. Create and maintain transportation SOP’s and work instructions. Willing and able to travel domestically and internationally as needed. Education and Experience Graduate in business, supply chain, logistics, engineering or related field with 5+ years of logistics experience Strong analytic skills with the capability to build complex models from large sets of data, with an expert proficiency in Excel. SQL and relational database concepts are a plus. 3PL management experience (transportation and warehousing) preferred. Proficiency with MS Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) is required. Strong interpersonal skills to interact in a cross functional environment with various departments, employee levels in the organization and with suppliers. Able to multitask and work independently in a fast-paced environment. Proven ability to identify opportunities quickly, make sound judgments, establish, and implement solutions. Must be able to work effectively in a team environment; understand and actively support the value of teamwork Key Interfaces: Internal: Americas Business units Operations, Sales Operations, Procurement, and Product Development. Regional Functional organizations as stakeholders and cross-functional team members: IT, Finance, Shared Services, Product development and HR. External: Communities of practice and professional organizations for senior and top managers Network of peers in own/other industries Physical Demands Employee may have to lift documents/work materials up to 30 pounds in weight. Employee will have to be able to walk/climb to a variety of primary work locations, including traveling by air/auto to remote sites. Employee will need to listen, understand, and speak with team members in person, telephonically, and electronically at all levels within a diverse workforce and with supported organizations. Employee is able to work in front of a personal computer and telephone for long periods of time. Work Environment Primary work environment is temperature-controlled office setting but may also be visiting different manufacturing facilities where following appropriate safety protocols at the location would be required. Employee will be exposed to low levels of noise in an office.
