Context/Scope:

The Governance Manager will have overall oversight of all governance and regulatory agendas for Diageo's "Southern hub" operational sites of Lebanon, Stitzel Weller, Shelbyville and Tullahoma. This position gets to drive the deployment of Diageo's strategic Quality, and Health, safety & environment (EHS) sustainability programs while providing leadership of the governance capability and talent development plan. 

Purpose of Role:

Leadership accountability for all aspects of Risk Management (EHS; business continuity planning; assurance) across these 4 regional sites e.g. Zero Harm, HACCP, and ISO accreditation.  With specific responsibility for Shelbyville.Identify, mitigate and own the many operating risks inherent in the manufacturing operations in order to protect the brands, people & company reputation.Ensure that for all plants supported, that the operations meet or exceed State and Federal environmental, safety and risk requirements, Diageo’s Global Risk Management Standards, Diageo’s operational excellence standards, our compliance and ethics and all other relevant policies.Assure all Maturing Third Party operations meet or exceed our Diageo’s Global Risk Management Standards, Diageo’s operational excellence standards, our compliance and ethics and all other relevant policies.Ensure our internal management processes and our business continuity plans at all Southern Hub operations sites are in line with all requirements.  This includes internal auditing of site facilities and operations to identify and quantify risks involved, and implementing robust action plans to eliminate or mitigate the risks.Anticipates needs for the future and proactively mitigate risk and issues working with all Southern Hub operations sites, legal, government affairs, central risk, industry and other external agencies.Develop skills and capabilities vital for ensuring compliance w/ gov legislation and policies & standards.Active participant in the regional "S-Hub" and Shelbyville leadership teams, helping to provide strategic direction for the site, grow the capabilities of the workforce, and deliver critical metrics in LTA, PPM Defect, OEE, and Schedule Adherence. Support delivery of key projects across sites so enhance supply productivity and sustainability targets.

Decision Making:

Drive the strategic decision making and planning agenda e.g. implementation of quality systems such ISO22000, HACCP, Global Finished Packaging Standards (GFPS), manage the ZERO Harm strategy and sustain the Environmental targets.Daily decisions required to resolve Southern Hub operations and Maturing 3rd party issues.High degree of integrity, business code of conduct required in all decisions.Governance talent pipeline and development plan

Financial Responsibility

Operational targets for the supported regional plants.Governance department budget.

Complexity of Role:

Develops Governance plans, trackers, Critical metrics and targets.  Tracks and reports as the need arises.Relationships with leadership, government agencies.Use industry network for benchmark and shared learning opportunity.Recognized as an authority on all Governance matters.In-depth knowledge of US and related Q,E,H&S regulations.Ability to operate/lead cross-functional teams in support of local, regional or corporate programs.Capable of applying functional expertise to solving issues across the Southern Hub.Provide functional leadership and coaching for the Southern Hub Governance teams.

Key Outputs for success:

Lead regional Business Continuity Management processes and interdependencies across the region. Work with all site functions to identify risks and ensure these risks are identified and mitigated.Support to ensure that Diageo Risk Management policies, procedures, programs and systems are fully and consistently implemented and integrated into site operations in line with Diageo Risk Management Standards.Lead continuous improvement strategies and drive tactical implementation plans for Quality, environmental, Health and Safety, risk and assurance.Ensure transparency of performance with clear standards' deployment to enhance execution excellence across all team responsibilities in operational risk management plan. Inspire and motivate employees to achieve performance levels and potential through coaching skills and effective use of Performance Evaluation.  Set and achieve critical metric targets.Proactively responds to changes while ensuring compliance at all time to all local, state, federal, and corporate requirements.Robust and tested business continuity plans across all Southern Hub sites.As a key member of the Southern Hub Leadership Team, you will provide support, direction, training and coaching for site leadership and Governance teams.Capability development and coaching of the Health, safety, Environment and quality teams to guarantee talent pipeline and future business growth.Support the deployment and Management of all Sites Health and Safety Management System and all Programs detailed in the system

Qualifications and Experience Required:

4 year Bachelors degree in science, engineering or EHS, with relevant post-graduate qualifications.Manufacturing operations experience7+ years track record across a range of Governance, food grade and technical Operations fields preferably in the beverage/alcohol business or CPG companies with managerial accountabilities.Distilling/Bottling experience strongly preferred.Shown leadership and influencing skillsAbility to communicate and engage across multiple leadership levelsHigh level of technical knowledge in manufacturing process and operational risks. Knowledge of Quality, health, safety and environment regulations across NAM and global network.Ability to engage, lead and develop teams is crucial for success in this role.
