The Bureau of Adult Special Populations (BASP) strives to support people with mental illness; substance use disorder; brain injuries; physical, intellectual and developmental disabilities; or previous carceral experience, to achieve maximum health, independence, and quality of life. Working closely with the Office of Mental Health (OMH), the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), the Office for People With Developmental Disabilities (OPWDD) and others to plan, develop, implement, and monitor New York State’s integrated care initiatives. The BASP is seeking a passionate Medicaid Healthcare Specialist to support the team in its mission and goals. Integrated Care is the intersection of primary and physical health care alongside mental health and substance use disorder (behavioral) health care. BASP Integrated Care initiatives aim to improve access to whole-person integrated care for individuals with mental health, substance use, and intellectual and developmental disabilities so they can live longer, healthier lives. **Specific responsibilities include:** + Assisting Bureau Director, Medicaid Program Manager, and Integrated Care Team Lead in designing, drafting, and implementing NYS budget initiatives, as well as Medicaid policy, regulations, and guidance. + Planning, coordinating, and participating in work group meetings of representatives from various state and local agencies, including providers. + Assisting the Integrated Care Team lead with creating presentations for stakeholders on PowerPoint, as well as drafting memoranda, briefs, and other written communications. + Providing assistance with note taking, project plan updates, scheduling and leading workgroups, and conducting presentations. + Assisting team leads in the analysis and understanding of cross-agency physical and behavioral health programs, policies, legislation, and initiatives within New York and across the country that impact individuals with mental health, substance use, and disability diagnoses. + Gaining proficiency in Medicaid billing methodologies and regulations. + Working with the team lead and others to request, analyze, format, and present data in various formats including the creation of fiscals, to support budget and programmatic initiatives. + Providing technical assistance to providers, advocates, and government agencies. + Serving as a sounding board and collaborator. + The preferred candidate should have experience and an understanding of Medicaid and Medicaid services. **Minimum Qualifications:** + 3 years of experience in public health, healthcare, insurance, policy, Medicaid programming, social work, or a related field. **Preferred Qualifications:** + Passion for serving vulnerable populations, especially those with mental illness, substance use, and/or intellectual or developmental diagnoses/disabilities/issues. + Bachelor's Degree (preferred by not required) + Experience with Medicaid populations, public policy, providers, and/or programs in the healthcare field. + Experience with thinking critically about data and data analysis. + Familiarity with Medicaid and Medicaid Services, public policy, and ability to understand complex policies, laws, and statutes. + Strong writing and communication skills, and a high level of cultural competency and interpersonal skills in order to work with both governmental and non-governmental agencies. + Ability to work independently and within a team environment. _*Employees must follow established work schedules. The usual work schedule is 37.5 hours per week, Monday through Friday. Normal work hours are 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. unless otherwise specified by the supervisor, this includes a half hour unpaid lunch break. Total work hours must equal 37.5 hours per week._ Compensation for roles at Staffing Solutions Organization LLC (SSO) varies depending on a wide array of factors including, but not limited to, the specific office location, role, skill set, and level of experience.
