Sr. Industrial Engineer

The Sr Industrial Engineer position relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Will support the IE teams’ efforts on eliminating wastefulness in production processes, and in developing ways to improve productivity, quality, and efficiency through the effective use of workers, machines, materials, space information.
The Sr Industrial Engineer will leverage a strong understanding of Lean Programs and drive continuous improvements working with cross-functional teams.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities• Review production schedules, engineering specifications, process flows, work instructions, and other information to understand methods and activities in manufacturing and services.• Drive efforts to analyze systems and determine how to manufacture parts or products with maximum efficiency and quality, with minimal to no supervision.• Work with manufacturing, quality, and R&D engineers to identify equipment and process improvement opportunities, and improvements in layout of workspaces.• Drive Time Study Analysis and identification of Value / Non-Value-added activities. These studies should maximize workflow and space utilization and should be incorporated into subsequent presentation of findings, planning and implementation of improvement plans.• Familiar with a variety of Industrial Engineering concepts, practices, and procedures so they can help develop systems, processes and procedures that enable the Industrial Engineering Group to function at a high level.• Develop, Support and be able to train Penumbra Employees on programs that support Lean Manufacturing Implementation.• Should be familiar with a variety of the lean manufacturing concepts, practices, and procedures and be capable of mentoring and training Industrial Engineers, helping to advance appropriate skill sets and understanding of subject.• Ensures facility efficiency and workplace safety, maintaining a safe and compliant work environment. • Adhere to the Company’s Quality Management System (QMS) as well as domestic and global quality system regulations, standards, and procedures. • Understands relevant security, privacy and compliance principles and adheres to the regulations, standards, and procedures that are applicable to the Company. • Ensure other members of the department follow the QMS, regulations, standards, and procedures.• Perform other work-related duties as assigned.
Position Qualifications• Bachelor's degree in Industrial, Manufacturing, or Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with 4+ years of experience in the medical device or related industry, or an equivalent combination of education and experience• Bachelor’s Degree preferred• Medical device, pharmaceutical, biotech, or other regulated industry experience desired• 4+ years of experience in a medical device industry role desired• Creativity, critical thinking, problem solving, and analytical skills required• Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills with the ability to present findings and recommendations to diverse audiences• High degree of accuracy and attention to detail• Proficiency with standard office tools, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint• Excellent organizational skills with ability to prioritize assignments while handling various projects simultaneously
Working Conditions• General office and cleanroom environments• Business travel from 2% - 8%• Potential exposure to blood-borne pathogens• Requires some lifting and moving of up to 25 pounds• The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, and reach with hands and arms, and to use a computer, sitting for extended periods. • Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to read, close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, and depth perception.
Starting Base Salary is $91,000 to $130,000We offer a competitive compensation package plus a benefits and equity program, when applicable. Individual total compensation will vary based on factors such as qualifications, skill level, competencies, and work location.
