WSP is currently initiating a search for a Full-Time Civil / Structural Inspector - Construction Background emphasis) for delivering Construction Services for our Client's Port Newark, NJ – field office. Your Impact
+ Provide assistance to PANYNJ Project Manager / Resident Engineer as directed.
+ Ability to communicate effectively both orally and written; verbal communication includes contract staff,
+ Resident Engineer, facility staff, PA tenants, and contractors.
+ Engineer will be required to have full knowledge and familiarity with contract documents
+ Overall contract compliance that construction work is performed in accordance with contract drawings, specifications and all applicable codes and standards
+ Overall contract compliance that construction is performed in a safe manner and completed on schedule
+ Review and evaluate potential items of extra work, provide justification and cost estimate, prepare related sketches and documentation, comment on and approve quantities of work in place for payment applications and recommend reasonableness to the Resident Engineer, in a timely fashion.
+ Complete daily narratives, daily labor reports for T&M work and controlled inspection reports accurately; schedule and conduct site inspections as required.
+ Attend progress meetings and final inspections and document meeting minutes
+ Perform constructability reviews for future contracts, provide meaningful comments on drawings and specifications by specified dates; coordinate construction work with facility police, maintenance and operations to ensure that contracts are completed with minimum disruption to the facility..
Who You Are
**Required Qualifications**
+ High School Diploma
+ Minimum of eleven or more years’ experience in progressively more difficult and responsible construction management and inspection of structural construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $500K to $5 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
+ Minimum 3-years’ experience inspecting civil construction work, varied in size (projects ranging from $500K to $2 million plus) and complexity (multiple crews and crew sizes per shift).
+ Ability to pass a Federal Security Background Check and obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Credential (TWIC) to work in a maritime environment as required by the Department of Homeland Security.
+ Coordinate contractors work with the Facility as needed.
+ Prepare daily inspection reports in accordance with the project's requirements, recording and reporting any deviations from contract documents.
+ Valid Driver's License required.
+ Night and weekend shifts are required on an as needed basis.
+ Trained in fall protection
+ Trench Excavation
+ Perform additional duties as deemed necessary
+ Any associated Structural Certifications
+ Excellent oral, written communication and presentation skills.
+ Familiarity with Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel.
+ Working knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and materials.
+ Strong interpersonal skills
+ Strong verbal and written communication skills
+ Proven ability to adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ This hire will be contingent upon client selection and successful background check.
+ Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
+ Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
+ This role is subject to a client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy. As such, employee may be subject to random drug/alcohol tests. A copy of the client mandated drug/alcohol testing policy will be provided during employee onboarding and is available upon applicant request.
**Preferred Qualifications:**
+ CIVIL - Structural Steel Bolting and Welding qualification S-1, S-2.
+ CIVIL - ACI certified for concrete inspector-1 and Special inspector.
+ Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural preferred, from an accredited college or university. In lieu of a bachelor’s degree a NICET Level III will be considered
+ Experience with Agency Construction preferred.

Compensation:
Expected Salary (all locations): $85,900 - $175,200
WSP USA is providing the compensation range that the company in good faith believes it might pay and offer for this position, based on the successful applicant’s education, experience, knowledge, skills, abilities in addition to internal equity and specific geographic location.
