Individual annual salaries/hourly rates will be set within the job's compensation range, and will be determined by considering factors including, but not limited to, market data, education, experience, qualifications, expertise of the individual, and internal equity considerations._ **Responsibilities:** GENERAL PURPOSE: Collects, analyzes, and generates reports and visualizations in support of the School of Nursing (SON). Working in collaboration with Office for Data Insights and Reporting (ODIR) colleagues and SON stakeholders, interprets and analyzes data to identify trends, patterns, and insights to include in recurring and ad-hoc reports. Works independently to ensure timely and accurate reporting to external bodies and executes projects addressing strategic questions for the SON. Contributes to the design, development, and maintenance of reports and dashboards to effectively communicate findings. Identifies opportunities to enhance reporting processes, data models, and analytical techniques to improve efficiency and deliver insightful analysis. **ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS** + Independently collects, analyzes, and submits required data to various external entities including, but not limited to: the New York State Education Department (NYSED), the federal National Center for Education Statistics (NCES/IPEDS), and the American Association of Colleges of Nursing (AACN). + Leads the development and implementation of Business Intelligence (BI) solutions to support data-driven decision making. Creates and maintains dashboards, reports, and analytical tools that track key performance indicators. + Analyzes data and creates data visualizations for presentations given by SON senior leadership including: annual SON state of the school and other highly visible presentations and events. Functions as an integral member of the ODIR team, collaborating with colleagues on analytical approaches, data visualization techniques, and institution-wide initiatives such as strategic plan reporting. + Works closely with ODIR colleagues, sharing knowledge and expertise to advance team capabilities in data analysis and visualization. Partners with SON stakeholders to align data systems and reporting processes with ODIR standards and institution-wide initiatives. + Wrangles data from disparate data sources, using best documentation practices and version control. Ensures data are cleaned for translation to readily used formats. Identifies gaps in data and remedies as appropriate. Identifies and addresses outliers in the data. + Identifies opportunities for process improvement and develops automated solutions to streamline data collection, analysis, and reporting processes. Other duties as assigned **QUALIFICATIONS** + Bachelor's degree required. + Master’s degree preferred. + Course of study in Statistics, Mathematics, Information Science, Economics or related analytical field preferred. + 5 years of relevant experience required. + Experience working in a higher education setting preferred. + Or equivalent combination of education and experience preferred. + Experience with Tableau required. + Experience with data warehousing tools, techniques and best practices preferred. + Strong foundational experience in data quality analysis, including data analysis, database management, and a strong understanding of data structures and data modeling techniques required. + Strong communication skills with the ability to present complex statistical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders required. + A consultative skillset including the ability to cultivate productive relationships with individuals across the university required. + Ability to employ strong active listening skills and ask probing questions to thoroughly comprehend the underlying business problems, objectives, and constraints required. + Strong attention to detail, ability to develop creative solutions to complex problems and strong critical thinking skills required. + Strong analytical, qualitative and quantitative data analysis skills, with demonstrated ability to break down complex problems into phased deliverables required. + Ability to work independently and successfully complete assigned tasks on time with limited oversight required. **EOE Minorities / Females / Protected Veterans / Disabled:** The University of Rochester is committed to fostering, cultivating, and preserving a culture of equity, diversity, and inclusion to advance the University’s mission to Learn, Discover, Heal, Create – and Make the World Ever Better.
