Position Summary We are currently inviting applications for a non-tenure track Sr. Instructor 1 position starting in the Fall of 2024. This fixed-term instructional position will focus on direct instruction of students enrolled in the Career and Community Studies program, a unique program requiring individualized instructional and curricular supports for the student, all of whom have intellectual and developmental disability and supporting service to the University, community, and profession. Expectations for the position are summarized below and will be the principal components upon which annual review and reappointment decisions will be based. The position description is incorporated by reference in the Notice of Appointment, consistent with the practices outlined for fixed-term faculty in the current PSU-AAUP collective bargaining agreement (Article 18).

Instructional Activities
Teach courses and supervise students within the Career and Community Studies program as assigned by the Department Chair. Specific course assignments include SPED 102, 202, 302, 402 as well as individual instruction on an ongoing basis. This position includes activities other than teaching, given the individualized nature of instructional supports provided to students in this program. This position will supervise and advise 12 CCS students. . A minimum of 12 hours per week for advisement is required(a total of at least four hours across three days each week of the term, to be posted at the beginning of each term).
Research/Scholarly Activities The position is primarily focused on instructional responsibilities
University Service Activities
Attend COE, Department, and program meetings. Serve on department and program committees as elected or appointed. Participate in supporting the COE’s diversity agenda.
Other Responsibilities
Complete other assignments in a professional manner, as may be agreed to in your specific offer of appointment, or through discussion with the Department Chair. This position will include providing daily program leadership in collaboration with the Program Director, including academic and professional advising, modifying and adapting existing advising and instructional protocols, and communicating weekly with students’ PSU undergraduate instructors to meet the unique support needs of individual students.

Total Compensation Range & Benefits Statement Salary is dependent on several factors, and new employees will typically start around the Q1 level to allow for later growth within the salary band. PSU has a structured process for determining starting compensation, taking into account years of related experience, applicable skills, knowledge and abilities, market parity, and internal equity.

The annual salary range for this position is between $59,310 and $70,631, but may be negotiated above this range dependent upon the factors above, the budget of the hiring department, and approval from HR.
