Under broad supervision, reconciles and adjusts various general ledger accounts and/or bank statements. May perform moderately complex analysis of performance results. Compiles, consolidates, and analyzes accounting and finance information for the production of financial statements and reports. Role typically requires between 3 and 5 years of experience.

General Overview

The Sr. Inventory Accountant will oversee inventory and fixed asset accounting processes across EcoWater North America’s manufacturing facilities (two plants – Ripley, MS & Iuka, MS and two warehouses – McKenna & Booneville) to ensure tracking, valuation, and reporting of inventory and enable to grow responsibly, in a profitable and sustainable manner. This position will ensure the integrity of accounting information and accurate Marmon Standard Practice Instruction compliant financial statements through strong internal controls and accounting knowledge, reporting to the North America EcoWater Controller, and supporting other business functions as required. This position will be a driver of data-based decision making through financial analysis, working cross-functionally, disseminating financial information and knowledge. The position is based out of the EcoWater Systems corporate office in Eagan, MN

Overall Responsibilities

Inventory Management:

Oversee inventory valuation and reconciliation processes.

Work closely with the inventory control team to ensure accurate inventory records and minimize excess or obsolete inventory.

Fixed Asset Accounting

Review and verify capitalization requests to ensure compliance with Standard Practice Instructions and accounting standards (e.g., GAAP/IFRS).

Calculate and post monthly depreciation for all fixed assets.

Monitor construction-in-progress (CIP) accounts and ensure timely capitalization of completed projects.

Conduct physical audits of fixed assets to ensure accuracy and completeness of asset records.

Cost Accounting & Analysis:

Apply cost accounting principles to accurately classify and report manufacturing costs and production activities.

Ensure that costing methods align with company policies and reflect the true cost of production.

Monitor and analyze manufacturing costs, including direct materials, labor, and overhead expenses. Investigate significant variances and provide explanations to management.

Identify cost-saving opportunities and implement strategies to improve cost efficiency without compromising quality.

Financial Reporting & Analysis:

Prepare and analyze financial reports related to manufacturing operations, with focus on revenue recognition, cost analytics, and profitability review.

Ensure accuracy and compliance with Marmon’s Standard Practice Instructions and company policies.

Support the manufacturing department in financial planning activities, including capital investment proposal with focus on paybacks, IRR and other metrics.

Assist in reviewing and forecasting the financial impact of operational decisions.

Budgeting and Forecasting:

Assist in the development of annual manufacturing budgets and forecasts.

Collaborate with department managers to establish realistic goals and monitor performance against budget targets.

Maintain standard cost systems compliant with company policies.

Review and analyze purchase price variances and provide valuable feedback to purchasing and management.

Internal Controls and Compliance:

Maintain strong internal controls within the manufacturing department to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.

Participate in internal audits and assist in implementing audit recommendations.

Process Improvement & Collaboration:

Identify opportunities to streamline processes and improve financial performance.

Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement process improvements and efficiency and to achieve common goals. Develop key relationships with plant personnel to effectively execute goals and initiatives.

Qualifications, Skills, Competencies:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA preferred).

5+ years of experience in accounting, with at least 3 years focused on inventory or cost accounting.

Experience in manufacturing, retail, or distribution industries is a plus.

Knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting and cost control principles including Generally Accepted Accounting Principles in a manufacturing environment. 

Knowledge of automated financial and accounting reporting systems and experience streamlining reporting for more efficient and effective results. Epicor and OneStream is a plus.

Strong excel skills are essential.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.

Operational business mindset.

Self-motivated, organized, with strong attention to detail and accuracy.

Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to interact effectively with internal and external stakeholders.

Travel Requirement

Travel required to MS plants and warehouses as needed, approximately every other month, more if needed to fulfill job duties. Position will be required to be onsite for annual inventory counts at plants and warehouses. 

Working Conditions

Hours of work will generally be during regular business hours with at least 40 hours a week but may vary according to special projects, deadlines or other concerns.
