Will participate as needed in all phases of software development with emphasis on the planning, analysis, development, testing, integration, documentation and presentation phases. The candidate will apply principles, methods, and knowledge of specific functional areas of expertise to specific Task Order requirements, and make recommendations and advise on organization-wide system improvements, optimization, or maintenance efforts.

 

Candidate will work closely with the team leader/chief engineer on activities such as technical proposal support, defect management, software development/modification/enhancement, system integration, and maintenance/process improvement activities.

The position will also support risk/opportunity management, causal analysis, and lessons learned activities. It is not a telework position.

 

Skills Requirements:


Required skills:

Specific technical skills required include:

-Front-end development skills: Struts 2/Tiles, HTML/JavaScript, JSP, JSP Custom Tag Libraries, YUI and/or JQuery.

-Server-side component design skills: Object-Oriented Design with Java EE 6 and up, Jax-WS Webservice development, Apache OpenJPA or similar, EJB 3.0, common frameworks such as Ant, JUnit, Log4J.

-Usability and Section 508 principles,

-SQL development for IBM DB2,

-WebSphere deployment.

 

Desired skills:

Knowledge of:

-- SSA system architecture

-- Agile development principles and methodology

Must demonstrate the experience and ability to work without technical oversight and to lead and/or supervise a team of specialists.

Must possess superior oral and written communication skills in order to clearly and effectively convey issues and ideas to team members, management and customers.

 

 

Minimum experience and education: Candidates with a BS degree must have the minimum of  11 years or 132 months of work experience specific to the job description.  

If a candidate has a  Master’s degree, they still need a minimum of 11 years or 132 months of work experience but only nine years or 108 months of experience specific to the job.  The other work experience to meet the 132 months does not have to be IT related.

Work experience while in college can be counted toward the overall years.

 

If no degree, work experience may be substituted.

Background clearance: All candidates selected will have to go through a Federal government background check prior to being able to start.  Generally, the background process takes between 3,4 or 5 weeks. The time is dependent on how quickly the candidate is able to complete the paperwork.

Candidates will obtain a Public Trust clearance upon approval.
