Overview

The Mobile Solutions Business Unit is seeking an experienced Sr. Manager of Applications Engineering to lead a team of talented applications engineers in our San Jose Design Center. Our applications engineering team is responsible for supporting customer adoption of our industry-leading parts integrating them on their projects while leading communication between our internal teams and our customers. The successful candidate will possess an excellent understanding of fundamental RF and phone-level design, troubleshooting experience, SW skills, excellent leadership, be a driven & committed team player, and have excellent communication skills. Job Description

Work activities include but are not limited to:
•    Interacting with internal and external customers
•    Evaluation board/radio hardware design
•    Verification and evaluation of products in development for compliance to device and system level requirements
•    Phone level application design support for compliance to industry standards and customer production robustness
•    Assist in troubleshooting and resolution of device production issues
•    Working with customers and internal teams to define device level requirements and perform system tradeoff analysis
•    Working with quality team to support failure analysis
•    Frequent on-site supports are required to achieve successful design-wins
•    TX/RX performance optimization and understanding the trade-offs of TX and RX

Qualifications and Requirements

•    BSEE + 15 years of experience or MSEE with at least 12 years’ experience which should include experience in phone level RF Systems engineering
•    Experience managing engineers at various levels of experience 
•    Must have experience in a customer-facing role. The candidate must have the necessary communications skills and experience to be able to interface with effectively.
•    Highly desirable to have experience in wireless handset application of TX/RX in GSM/C2K/WCDMA/LTE systems, NR experience is plus, RF PCB design, test and troubleshooting of RF circuits and phone board, and RF systems analysis.
•    Must have a strong theoretical background in fundamental RF and systems design.
•    Broad experience of impedance matching on mobile phone and strong understanding of Tx/Rx parameters and FDD/TDD products.
•    Strong knowledge of system level debugging using phone tools.
•    Strong ability of hands-on skills for soldering and equipment handling such as Base station emulator (CMW100/500 & UXM), Network Analyzer, Signal generator, Spectrum analyzer, Noise Figure Meter.
•    An ability of SW skills of C++ and Python for PXIe and ET bench and Auto test bench setting is plus.
•    Tier 1 customer support experience is a plus

The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $139,100 - $278,300 per year per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location. Skyworks has different base pay ranges for different work locations in the U.S. Benefits include access to healthcare benefits (including a premium-free medical plan option), a 401(k) plan and company match, an employee stock purchase plan, paid time off (including vacation, sick/wellness, parental leave), among others.
