We are hiring a full-time Senior Manager, Business Development to serve the North American market. The position is US-based, with some flexibility on location.
The Senior Manager, Business Development is responsible for driving the performance of municipal, regional and industrial Water and Wastewater project development and acquisitions across the United States and Canada. This role ensures the allocation of appropriate resources, assignment of project priorities, and leadership across a broad geography to align project pursuits with corporate strategy. You will develop and maintain regional industry, regulatory, and executive relationships, ensuring a robust pipeline of projects and clients, and positioning the company for continued growth and commercial success. This position requires a visionary leader capable of implementing EPCOR’s growth strategy, engaging the executive team strategically on growth initiatives, and recommending plan revisions in response to market or internal drivers.
What You’d Be Responsible For
Provide comprehensive technical and commercial leadership on water and wastewater project development, acquisitions, and investment.Cultivate a high-performing, disciplined, accountable, innovative, and achievement-oriented organization that is client focused.Set priorities for investment opportunities and manage financial and human resources efficiently to assess and value projects. Make critical “Go” or “No Go” decisions at the earliest phases of potential investments.Recognize, quantify, and assess investment risks, and develop plans to manage, mitigate, delegate, or negotiate these risks to acceptable levels.Represent EPCOR at a senior level, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.Develop a deep understanding of the water market, regulatory and legislative environment, project delivery alternatives, and private sector participation in water infrastructure. Translate this understanding into a growth framework with clear direction and flexibility.Build a strong business development team by determining resource needs, recruiting for fit, providing motivation and leadership, and managing performance.
What’s Required to Be Successful
A Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Engineering or related field; a Master’s degree is preferred.10+ years of senior management experience, with a strong business acumen and a deep understanding of commercial project assessment, investment, and viability.Extensive experience in the water industry, with a proven track record of managing large projects and delivering them successfully.Demonstrated ability to build and maintain relationships with industry, regulatory, and executive stakeholders.Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with the ability to resolve conflicts and foster positive team dynamics.Proactive and driven, with a focus on identifying opportunities and solutions for potential clients.Excellent written and verbal communication skills, both internally and externally, with experience in developing and implementing business strategies.
