Job Overview
As the Senior Manager of Business Insights, you will lead a team dedicated to leveraging data for strategic advantage, driving transformative insights for our Stores Organization. You will foster a culture of continuous improvement in technology and insight delivery. Acting as a talent magnet, you will recruit, hire, coach, and mentor team members. Additionally, you will build strong, consultative relationships with business stakeholders, always aiming to anticipate their needs and enhance BI efficiency.
What You Will Do
Recruit, coach, and mentor individuals to cultivate a strong cross-functional organization. Introduce innovative ideas regularly to enhance our ability to achieve customer objectives. Establish clear, measurable quality goals for the organization based on data-driven insights. Promote a culture of continuous engineering improvement through mentoring, feedback mechanisms, and performance metrics. Work with Senior BI Leadership and Stakeholders to understand business objectives, map scope of work, and manage agile pods in achieving insight deliverables. Collaborate with BI COE, Data Engineering and Data Governance teams to ensure the realization of data strategies, architecture guidelines, and standards. Serves as a primary contact for stakeholders for the pods they lead. Works with BI COE to identify best practices and solutions to improve efficiency. Responsible for key validation/ QA tests and peer review processes to ensure integrity of the data displayed on reports. Drive continuous improvement efforts in enhancing performance and providing increased functionality, including developing processes for automation. Ensures that dashboards align with the broader business strategy and objectives. Offers feedback to refine dashboards and enhance their storytelling and decision-support capabilities.
Skills You Will Need
Stakeholder Management: Proactively engages stakeholders to understand their challenges and goals. Ability to have a business-first viewpoint. Business Acumen: A trusted business partner with in-depth knowledge of their stakeholder’s operations and key objectives/metrics. Technical Acumen: Understands our data pipelines and ability to lead BI configurations, advanced report programming, and technical queries (SQL, R, Python, etc.), and BI automation capabilities. Team Leadership: Effective leadership in building and leading high-performing teams, driving innovation in both insights and processes to achieve outstanding results in a fast-paced environment. Communication Skills: Effective communication of technical information and solutions to all levels of the business, along with the ability to articulate technical issues clearly. Project Management: Capacity to manage multiple projects/pods effectively, identifying primary and secondary objectives, prioritizing time, and communicating timelines to team members. Ownership Mentality: Desire and ability to take ownership of products/projects, driving them towards successful outcomes.
Who You Are
5+ years of experience analyzing data and building comprehensive dashboards in an enterprise setting. 2+ years in a People Leader role or leading cross-functional projects. You have advanced statistical analysis skills and can effectively leverage BI analysis/visualization tools (Power BI, Tableau). An ongoing learner who seeks out emerging technology and can influence others to think innovatively. Passionate about building great BI products and solving customer and business problems. Dedicated to fulfilling ideals of diversity, inclusion, and respect that Macy’s aspires to achieve every day in every way. Regularly required to sit, talk, hear; use hands/fingers to touch, handle, and feel. Occasionally required to move about the workplace and reach with hands and arms. Requires close vision.
