Job Description
Overview
Senior Manager, Business Strategies will play a pivotal role in driving data-informed decisions and shaping the future of the Denver homebuilding and community development business groups. Leading a newly created team of financial analysts, this role is responsible for delivering operational insights, investment underwriting, market research, and strategic communications to support key business initiatives across the region.
Reporting directly to executive leadership, the Senior Manager, Business Strategies serves as a trusted advisor across nearly all internal departments, providing analytical support and strategic guidance on high-impact business decisions. This role requires a hands-on leader with a strong grasp of cross-functional business operations, capable of developing and implementing processes that enhance business performance.
Key Deliverables
Partner with executive leaders across the Denver region to deliver research, analysis, and insights that drive critical business decisions and long-term strategies.
Craft impactful divisional reports and presentations that effectively communicate key findings to Corporate leadership.
Lead financial analysis of investment opportunities by building detailed financial models and presenting recommendations to the Investment Committee.
Take ownership of project underwriting, including hands-on financial modeling, strategic direction, deal structuring, and risk assessment for land and housing projects.
Provide formal leadership by managing and mentoring direct reports, fostering growth and development within the Financial Analyst team.
Play a key role in quarterly business meetings with Corporate leadership by preparing market analyses, presenting key metrics, and communicating financial insights to stakeholders.
Support the annual business planning process by creating project pro formas, including Discounted Cash Flows, and delivering clear communication of key financial metrics to management.
Analyze complex financial data to forecast business, industry, and economic trends, providing monthly updates and actionable insights to Divisional teams.
Oversee the preparation of project approval materials, ensuring clear, concise, and compelling documentation for management review.
Collaborate with the Accounting/Finance team to support the production of quarterly and annual reports, ensuring accuracy and alignment with business objectives.
Skills and Experience
Brings 8-10 years of experience in financial analysis, with a focus on residential real estate development, and the ability to read, interpret, and analyze financial statements.
Demonstrates strong business acumen and a broad understanding of real estate principles, with the ability to comprehend and summarize documents such as leases and contracts.
Possesses a quantitative mindset, with experience working with complex data and financial models; CPA or CFA credentials are an asset but not required.
Proficient in Excel, including advanced functions such as VLOOKUPs, pivot tables, logical tests, conditional formatting, and data visualization.
Communicates effectively through verbal and written channels and is experienced in preparing analysis and presentations for executive-level audiences.
Shows strong attention to detail, with a high level of accuracy and precision in their work.
Experience underwriting ground-up development projects is preferred.
Familiarity with Microsoft Project is considered an asset.
Highly organized and adaptable, able to manage multiple priorities in a dynamic environment
