Role Summary The Core Data team at Rivian is dedicated to curating and delivering a top-tier analytics ecosystem, enabling data exploration, insights generation, reporting, and data-driven decision-making across the organization. Our mission is to empower the entire Rivian community to leverage actionable data-driven insights, fostering a culture where everyone sees themself as a “data person”. We create the ecosystem that enables this diverse data community to access data, efficiently explore & contribute, and thrive. An important part of our mission is enabling the broader Rivian community to engage with data – this includes those looking for no-code and low-code methods in addition to the deep technical experts in data science and AI. We're currently seeking a hands-on engineering leader to help us realize this vision. In this role, you'll manage a skilled team of analysts and engineers who develop and maintain a cutting-edge data & analytics platform. Your team will partner closely with business stakeholders to understand their data and report needs, provide central tooling and infrastructure for reporting, empower users across the business, and provide product analytics insights. Collaboration with leaders in software, data, and other domains is integral to this role, ensuring alignment and synergy across the organization's data initiatives. Responsibilities Lead the design, development, and maintenance of a modern analytics tooling & reporting ecosystem, ensuring it meets the evolving needs of the organization. Oversee the analytics tooling ecosystem, ensuring robust integration upstream with the data catalog, and downstream with business users. Drive the implementation of best practices in integration and architecture to optimize performance, reliability, and scalability. Stay abreast of industry trends and advancements in data engineering and analytics, integrating relevant technologies and methodologies into the ecosystem. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, data platform teams, and stakeholders to understand and translate business requirements into technical solutions, ensuring data governance, security, and quality standards are upheld. Foster a culture of continuous learning by providing training and support to enhance skills within your data team and the broader data community, promoting collaboration to meet evolving data needs. Act as a liaison between technical teams and senior leadership, effectively communicating the value proposition and impact of data initiatives. Drive the adoption of containerization and orchestration technologies to streamline deployment and management of data solutions. Champion the expansion of the data community within the organization, promoting collaboration, knowledge sharing, and innovation across domains. Qualifications Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, or similar. Demonstrated leadership experience managing or guiding technical teams. Direct experience building with best-in-class modern data tools, and deep one or more business intelligence & reporting tool (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Preset, etc.). Strong coding skills in Python, Java, Scala, R, and SQL, commonly used in analytics and data science. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills essential for collaborating with cross-functional teams and senior leadership. Proactive commitment to staying updated with modern data practices and philosophies. Knowledge of data governance, data security, and data quality best practices. Passion for training and enablement to foster an expanding data community. Domain expertise in automotive and/or manufacturing industries is advantageous. Pay Disclosure Salary Range/Hourly Rate for California Based Applicants: $213,000-$266,000 (actual compensation will be determined based on experience, location, and other factors permitted by law) Benefits Summary: Rivian provides robust medical/Rx, dental and vision insurance packages for full-time employees, their spouse or domestic partner, and children up to age 26. Coverage is effective on the first day of employment, and Rivian covers most of the premiums.
