Schwab Data & Analytics is seeking a Sr. Manager, Data Governance (individual contributor) to help mature and execute key elements of the Data Governance Program. The successful candidate will report to the Director, Data Governance & Privacy.

This role is responsible for supporting the data governance strategy and framework across the organization. This role ensures that data is accurate, accessible, consistent, and protected. This role requires a strategic thinker with a deep understanding of data technologies and a passion for fostering a culture of data-driven excellence. The Data Governance Manager will collaborate closely with stakeholders from various departments to implement data policies, standards, and best practices to enhance data quality and compliance.

What you will help support:

Data Governance Framework: Support the evolution and implementation a comprehensive data governance framework that aligns with business objectives and regulatory requirements.Policy Development: Update, maintain, and guide the adoption of data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality and integrity across the organization.Data Stewardship: Support data stewards in the execution of the data stewardship responsibilities to promote accountability for data management practices across departments.Collaboration: Work closely with cross-functional teams including IT, compliance, legal, Risk, and business units to ensure alignment and adherence to data governance standards.Data Quality Management: Support the monitoring and reporting of data quality metrics, and support initiatives to improve data quality.Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions and workshops to promote data governance awareness and best practices across the organization.Regulatory Compliance: Stay current on data protection regulations and compliance requirements, ensuring the organization adheres to relevant laws and standards.Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities for continuous improvement in data governance processes, tools, and methodologies.Data Cataloging and Metadata Management: Oversee the implementation and maintenance of a data catalog and metadata management system to enhance data discovery and usability.Change Management: Drive data governance adoption through effective communication, training, and change management initiatives.Reporting and Analytics: Provide regular reports and updates to senior management on data governance progress, challenges, and areas for improvement.Issue Resolution: Address and resolve data governance-related issues and conflicts in a timely and effective manner.
What you have

Required Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree along with applied data management experience in areas such as (but not limited to) Computer Science, Applied Mathematics, Program/Project Management, Business Administration, or related field5 to 10 years of experience in data governance, data management, or related fieldsStrong understanding of data governance principles, practices, and frameworksProficient understanding of data movement and data lineage with the ability to track how data flows across systemsDemonstratable knowledge around different information asset types and their interconnectedness (Data, datasets, Metrics, Reports etc.)Excellent written and verbal communication skills; with demonstrated ability to deliver verbal and written communications that are clear, concise, and impactful with their intended audiencesExcellent analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detailProficiency in Microsoft Office programs (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint)Excellent interpersonal, relationship building, and change management skillsSolid stakeholder management and communications skills to deal with complex topics at more senior levels across the businessExperience using tools and techniques such as complex spreadsheet formulas and pivot tables, reporting tools like Tableau, database queries, risk management tools such as MyGRC, Data management tools such as Collibra, IDQ and EDCAn explorer mindset: someone who proactively ventures into unfamiliar areas in search of information

Preferred Qualifications:

Relevant certifications (e.g., Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP), Data Governance and Stewardship Professional (DGSP))An explorer mindset: someone who proactively ventures into unfamiliar areas in search of information
