Responsibilities:

As a Senior Manager of Engineering, you are expected to provide mentorship and leadership to a group of 8-15 Software Engineers. You will be a part of a hands-on Engineering Management team, performing technology deep dives and facilitating/managing high- and low-level design processes and reviews. You will also be expected to participate in code reviews, scheduling, people management, reporting status, and hiring. You will collaborate with the senior engineering management team, product management and other cross-functional management to ensure high quality integrated software solutions in a fast-paced, Agile environment.

 

As a technology leader within Blackhawk you will have the opportunity to work across the organization helping to align the software development technology vision. You will maintain awareness of changes in techniques, tools and frameworks, and help influence their usage in a pragmatic way to improve the team's productivity.

Partner Closely with Stakeholders:

Build a strong, collaborative partnership with stakeholders to deliver software that achieves business objectives.Work with shifting requirements and adapt to change by leading your team and the department in maintaining an Agile mindset.Encourage transparency with each team's release plans, progress and impediments.Contribute ideas and recommendations to the product roadmap based on awareness of relevant industry trends. 

Technical Leadership: 

Perform all phases of software engineering including design, development, testing, and deployment in an Agile software development environmentHelp hone our overall Agile practices to reduce the time it takes to deliver increments of software, including improving continuous integration and deliveryPromote software development quality and best practices by encouraging unit and automated integration testing, pair programming and participation in code reviewsProvide timely advice, solutions and estimations while also communicating  tradeoffs and potential hidden problems  Qualifications:

Qualifications:

 

10+ years of hands-on software development experience building distributed systems4+ years of management experience leading and mentoring software engineers in a commercial software product company.Experience working with product counterparts in contributing to the product roadmap.Bachelor's degree in Computer Science desired or equivalent work experience required. Master's Degree in Computer Science a plus.Expertise using agile methodologies (e.g. Scrum, Kanban) to plan and deliver increments of functionality.Proficiency and knowledge of incident and problem management, including timely problem identification, successful resolution and root cause analysis.Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to clearly communicate information technology concepts in non-technology terms.Must be available to work the occasional weekend and off hours for ensuring a smooth operating platform with rapid responsiveness to production issues.Experiences managing distributed remote and diverse teams.Must be able to demonstrate knowledge of Cloud preferably AWS.Experience in payment systems is preferred. Benefits:

Salary Range for California Residents Only: $184,060.00 to $248,500.00

Salary Range for Illinois Residents Only: $146,290.00 to $197,500.00

 

Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, certifications, etc. In addition to your salary, Blackhawk Network offers benefits including 401k with employer match, medical, dental, vision, 12 paid holidays in the year 2024, 1 hour of sick pay accrual for every 30 hours worked, parental leave, life insurance, disability insurance, accident and illness insurance, health and dependent care flexible spending accounts, wellness benefits, and flexible time off for all full-time employees.
