Sr. Manager, Engineering (Product Development)

ROLE: Sr. Manager, Engineering

COMPENSATION:  $­­131,600 to  $154,800 annually + bonus eligibility (if applicable). This is the expected salary range for this position. Ultimately, in determining pay, we'll consider the successful candidate’s location, experience, and other job-related factors.

JOB PURPOSE: The position leads the engineering team and is accountable for the design, testing, commercialization, implementation and ongoing quality of all equipment, small wares, and associated programs while providing technical leadership to the business driving growth.

 

JOB RESPONSBILITEIS:

Lead the Equipment Development Process (EDP) including prototype development, business case, lab testing, specifications and field testing. Maintains accountability for all functional specifications Support the national calendar implementation, Long-term Offers (LTOs) and test markets in the disciplines of equipment and small wares engineering Develops and builds supplier relationships to drive innovation, continuous improvement and quality Act as the liaison for technical and quality issues between the company, franchisees and the supply chain organization along with supplier partners Partner with franchisee leadership to drive strategy and develop one system solutions Ensures equipment and smallwares quality is maintained and leads any resolution of quality failures Support team in performance of simulations to model operating efficiencies and understand deeper business questions Actively engage in RFP process providing guidance on supplier performance and risk Responsible for Alternate Vendor Approval (AVA) ensuring secure supply chain Support development pipeline through restaurant layout reviews, back of house (BOH) flow optimization and RSCS distributor model revisions  Actively participate in the RMI process delivering margin improvement to the business while not impacting performance or quality 

WORKING RELATIONSHIPS: 

This position regularly interacts with the KFC LT, CORE Team, franchisees, senior external vendor leadership and internal Cross-functional teams (Operations, Finance, Marketing, Information Technology, RSCS, Training, Communications and Legal).

Exempt – 2 Non-Exempt –  2

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIRED: 

Education/Certifications:  Bachelor of Science in Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical, Industrial) MS/Eng. Preferred  Years of Experience:  5+ years career experience in Engineering/Packaging/Equipment related field  Experience in the quick serve restaurant industry, or a strong interest in being a part of a global iconic brand QSR company; experience working in a franchisee model is also highly preferred Extensive knowledge and track record of success in developing and commercializing new equipment  Experience in project management and process development.  Desired experience working in the manufacturing/technology development environment Demonstrates technical leadership, drives accountability, operates with integrity, inspires teamwork, fosters cross functional collaboration and coaches others Demonstrated performance of people development  Demonstrated ability to influence and inspire others of all levels of the organization  Track record of successfully managing vendor relationships Confidence, presence, and personal drive balanced with humility and ability to excel in a team-based approach to innovation while still maintaining a point of view and building followership High level of accuracy and timeliness in completing assignments  Strong analytical and critical thinking ability with the strategic ability to think “big picture” with an attention to detail A sense of urgency and passion for turning knowledge and innovation into action  Ability to act as an effective change agent while focusing on actions that are most critical for achieving step-change results Self-starter and able to adapt to fast paced fluid work environment  Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills
