The Opportunity

The purpose of the Final Assembly Engineering Sr. Manager is to lead a team of Manufacturing Managers within the Final Assembly Engineering Organization in the areas of Advanced Process Engineering and Studies, Plant Vehicle Teams, Overall Product and Process Quality, Product and Process Standards and Fastening.

Advanced Process and Engineering Studies - Lead team to develop initial process and cost studies for all new program development and non prod requirements.  Team will work closely with cross functional counterparts to develop the cost, process, plan, timing, tooling requirements, project awards, etc.

Quality – Lead team to improve quality metrics in all Ford North America plants, drive quality pain point projects to implement continuous improvements into the plants and support process improvements for future programs 

Product and Process Standards – Lead team to create, update and deliver Global Manuracturing Requirements into the product design, update and create process standards and process control plans to support core engineering deliverables 

Fastening – Lead team to develop fastening tooling and standards, drive new technology into current plants to support process and quality improvements 

Plant Vehicle Teams (PVT’s) – Collaborate with plant teams to support Final Assembly Engineering required deliverables, support quality and process improvement activities into plants 

Machinery and Equipment – Lead team to develop major equipment requirements for new future programs, support quality and process continuous improvement activity into major equipment at the plants   

All job functions will support new future programs, current programs, non prod, campaign prevention, and reaction plans for Ford North America Final Assembly Manufacturing facilities

The Minimum requirements we seek

B.S. degree required 

10 + years experience in Manufacturing Engineering / Operations 

Major program Launch as Leader or discipline equivalent 

Our Preferred requirements

Working knowledge of MDQOS deliverables such as tooling development, LQOS, DPA5, GSPAS/VPS, APT, Teamcenter, PFMEA, SCCAFs, Error Proofing Principles, GMRs/Health Charts, and VOSS 

Understanding of relationships between VME, New Models, Program Management and Operations through Launch of a vehicle 

Knowledge and/or experience within other Manufacturing Vehicle Functions 

Stong leadership skills in working with and leading cross functional teams in areas of PD, Quality, Operations and Manufacturing

Strong technical knowledge of quality improvement process 

Leadership communication skills consistent with reporting out to Director and VP level leadership 

Willingness to Travel for extended periods of time

Key Responsibilities: 

Lead team of Manufacturing Engineering Managers / Supervisors in the areas of Advanced Process and Program Studies, Quality, Product and Process Standards, Fastening and Machinery & Equipment 

Lead Quality Pain Point projects to reduce warranty costs and improve overall vehicle quality 

Investigate, develop, and vet new technologies and vendors 

Work on Global Manufacturing Standards by Developing Procedures, Global Manufacturing Requirements (GMR), Standard Cells, Gap Strategies with Product Development, Standard Costing for Future Model Programs 

Work with Cross Functional Teams in PAC Papers and Stop Ships to further Improve our Manufacturing Standards and Reduce Warranty Costs 

Support the Development of New Technology into our North American Plants 

Lead the Development of Online and Offline Torque Strategies and Improvements 

Collaborate with Plant Vehicle Teams to support continuous improvement projects and new future project implementations 

Support Ford of India Team in developing and implementing digital transformation into core process deliverables 

Ensure all aspects of the program are delivered within cost, delivery, and safety 

Develop Design and Build Scopes of Work associated with Tooling and Equipment along with Installation Scopes of Work 

Work closely with VME Core Equipment, Conveyor and Facility Team’s, Assembly Plant & Suppliers to support deliverables 

Collaborate with Process Engineers and Product Development Team to generate facility & tooling costs, improve quality, and reduce labor requirements 

Develop and foster working relationships with new and existing tooling vendors to develop new processes/equipment and to continuously improve the equipment we have already deployed 

Lead identification, resolution, and closure of quality improvement projects 

Support Program Cost Studies and work with cross functional teams within the organization to ensure proper Tooling is included and a plan for implementation 

Work with counterparts in PD and Quality to drive design requirements 

Support launch coordination meetings: AIMS, DEMS, Whiteboard, Scorecard, etc.  

Incorporate new technologies and automation into the tooling development to improve delivery and quality 

Work with upfront MSAP and Architecture Teams to incorporate new process standards to accommodate new technologies and quality / efficiency improvements 

Support builds / installations onsite as needed

Use Plant High Hurts to predict and mitigate Launch risks in Forward Model Development 

Support GMR standard & equipment updates / migration plan through closed loop lesson learned process 

Review "Lessons Learned" from New Model launches and implement Prevent Reoccurrence Actions into future programs 

Teach, coach, and develop training plans for all employees
