Gilead's office in Tokyo has been operating since 2013 and is focused on the development and commercial activities in Japan to support Gilead’s growing global business.

Specific Job Requirements

Manages the month end close for Japan, reporting to the Japan ControllerResponsible for the timely and accurate review and posting of month end close and accounting transactions, P&L and balance sheet account analysis and reconciliation.Reviews financial records and ensures records are accurate and in compliance with Controller’s manual, Sarbanes Oxley and all applicable laws and regulations.Consistently maintains appropriate internal controls and upholds company policies & procedures including Controller’s manual.Responsible for managing the complex accounting activities for collaboration accounting, including the preparation of the accounting memos.Serve as a main point of contact with internal and external auditors. Respond to audit inquiries and supports quarter end, interim and year-end audits by providing timely and accurate data and communication.Helps develop and implement financial systems and processes, including implementation of new ERP system.Manage statutory accounts preparation and statutory audits.Manage tax return filings, tax payments and tax audits.Acts as the subject matter expert responsible for conducting all activities of a department, supporting various business units and functions.Provide cashflow forecast to Treasury.Works closely with the Shared Services Centre, FP&A function, and other internal divisions and units to provide the required business services.Supports tax, treasury, procurement, and various functions in the regionSupport APA(Advanced Pricing Agreement) to provide input to tax consultant, coordinate meetings with stakes holders, document review, and liaise with tax department.Leading and introducing new processes or systems and ensures GAAP compliances.Interacts and influence peers across the Company to ensure successful project completion, actively participates in cross- functional projects.Evaluates processes, recommends, and implements process improvements.

Key skills/Knowledge

Strong accounting knowledge and experiences including US GAAP, US SOX, local GAAP, and tax regulations.8+ years of relevant experience and finance degree in accounting or equivalent.Working experience in multinational companies.CPA/Chartered Accountant is preferred.Working experience in Big 4 is preferred.Knowledge and experience about the compliance rules of pharmaceutical industry would be preferred.In depth knowledge of Oracle, SAP S4/Hana, or the equivalent ERP systemProficient in complex Excel spreadsheet and database structuresTeam player with good interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to work with a range of cultures and business models.Highly adaptable and able to work in a startup, evolving environment, and dynamic organization.Self-driven with high levels of integrity, excellence, and teamwork.

Language Proficiency

Fluency in both written and spoken English and Japanese
