Your Role:

As a Senior Manager – Immunology Development, you will oversee the daily management of a team developing new assays and conducting a wide variety of assays or tests required to characterize product or material safety. This includes supervision of scientists, associate scientists, and/or lab technicians. This also includes oversight and accountability for quality of work, service delivery, financial targets, and other established lab performance targets. You will partner with key stakeholders (Routine Operations, Assay Validation, IT, Finance, QA) to deliver custom development projects and provide operational support to drive operational efficiencies, improve service, reduce risk, and enable our employees to focus on value added tasks. This includes planning and execution of global, multi-departmental business transformation projects and reports directly to the Head of Product Characterization within Contract Testing Services (CTS). 

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

•    Identify objectives and how each lab is going to accomplish and carry out those objectives to the satisfaction of the protocol and client (internal or external).
•    Initiate, plan, schedule and complete complex projects to maintain capacity expectations, ensure the labs run efficiently and effectively and client requirements are met.
•    Investigate irregularities and deviations to maintain a compliant business.
•    Adhere to and enforce all safety laws and regulations while actively pursuing projects to ensure a safe working environment.
•    Directly communicating with key stakeholders globally across Contract Testing Services (CTS) working to understand business needs, drivers, priorities, and strategy.
•    Responsible for delivering impactful innovation services that appropriately pair the right approaches and methods with project size to achieve high-quality outcomes at reasonable cost, along with continuous improvement and reporting on the impacts of innovation.
•    Work closely with CTS project sponsors to execute assigned strategic projects.  Network within CTS and broader Life Science Services and Merck Group stakeholder.  May interact with clients and/ or regulators as needed.
•    Assure that validation requirements are achieved for the laboratories as defined by the company’s Quality System.
•    Contribute to client and regulatory agency audits to ensure the business meets or exceeds expectations. 
•    Actively communicate with clients to ensure strong business partnerships to maintain and develop new business.
•    Stay current with industry trends and technological advances.
•    Develop presentations, provide technical expertise where relevant and communicate with sales to assist in the procurement of new clients.
•    Perform other duties and responsibilities as appropriate or required.  

 

 

Who You Are

Minimum Qualifications:

PhD in relevant discipline with 8 or more years of relevant experienc, MA/MS in a relevant discipline with 10 or more years relevant experience or BS with 15 years of experience.Working knowledge of cGMP’s and pharmaceutical industry procedures and regulations.Management experience inc. experience leading multi-disciplinary teams 

 

Preferred Qualifications:

A proven track record of success in the structured and rigorous planning, execution and timely delivery of enterprise level projects and programs inc. developing, maintaining, and meeting KPI. Experience leading and/or supervising staff in a laboratory setting.Client facing experience 

 

Knowledge and Skills:

Excellent oral and written communication skills that have been demonstrated through presentations/seminars, oversight of projects, implementation of new services, etc.Excellent time management skillsHighly collaborative as well as independent, competent in operational managementDemonstrates a high level of initiative and leadership capabilitiesEffective supervisory, coaching and training skills for complex and highly technical work

 

 

Pay Range: $118,000-272,300
