The Sr. Manager, Indirect Category Management develops and implements procurement strategies to meet company quality, delivery, inventory, cost and innovation objectives.  Establishes and implements strategic plans in support of short- and long-term company goals through rationalization of the supplier base, review and onboarding of new suppliers and managing procurement-related business risks, with a primary focus on capital equipment purchases and related items.   Functions as key business and technical interface for assigned category in managing supplier business relationships.

What You’ll Do

Serve as a senior leader on the supply chain strategy and supplier management team.

Be responsible for leading the development and implementation of the Indirect Category strategy with an initial focus on Capital Equipment (i.e. manufacturing automation and equipment to advance the lean manufacturing strategy), as well as facilities, warehouse equipment, tools, spare parts and other MRO items.

Provide sourcing leadership related to supplier selection, contracts & negotiations, cost management, innovation, and supplier relationship management.

Work across MFT functions (manufacturing, continuous improvement, supply chain, and engineering) to gather category-related requirements and create project funnels that align with the category strategy, plant, and financial targets.

Analyze data to identify and present opportunities to improve quality, delivery, inventory, cost, service and supply resiliency.

Develop and maintain a deep understanding of the industries/markets and communicate market and supply trends.  Analyze market and delivery conditions to determine present and future business impacts and prepare market analysis reports.

Work with EH&S and sustainability leadership to advance our ESG initiative, as it relates to the indirect category.

Partner with the core team and other functions in the establishment, deployment and compliance with standard processes, policies, and procedures.

Who You Are

Strategic thinker with prior experience in managing the Indirect & MRO category

Strong leader with the ability to communicate, interact, and positively influence at all levels of the organization to drive results.

Ability to collaborate cross-functionally to gather, conceptualize, and analyze business requirements to develop a long-term strategy.

Comfortable working in a results-oriented environment.

Strong negotiation, diplomacy, and persuasion and communication skills. 

Confident, autonomous professional; ability to work with limited direction.

Skills/Experience We’re Looking For

Prior development and execution of a category strategy

Proven ability to develop trusted, respectful relationships internally and externally.

Excellent presentation, verbal and written communication skills.

Excellence in generating accurate and understandable data and reports to analyze performance to make data-driven decisions.

High level of personal initiative, energy and ownership of business results.

Strong computer skills and proficiency with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Strong business acumen

Ability to travel as required (up to 20%)

Required Qualifications

Bachelor of Science degree in supply chain management, engineering, industrial management or equivalent.  MBA in supply chain management or related area is a plus.

Proven track record of 7+ years working in the Indirect category.

Development and leadership of capital equipment negotiations and purchasing, with a focus on manufacturing equipment and automation.

Experience with development and implementation of strategic sourcing processes and development of a strategic sourcing team.  Sourcing for industrial manufacturing and other indirect categories, a plus.
