Job Overview

The Senior Manager, Marketplace Seller Management & Optimization supports the optimization of the seller experience, manages ongoing relationships with onboarded sellers, and oversees growth strategies, including assortment offerings, pricing, and performance. This entrepreneurial role requires strong communication and analytical skills to implement a seller retention strategy and integrate data-driven decision-making into daily processes. The Senior Manager works directly with sellers, managing accounts, and oversees a team of Associate Account Managers, leveraging experience to coach and guide the team in their account management. This role collaborates closely with leadership across the Marketplace Organization—Business Development, Operations, and Marketing—as well as key functions within Macy’s, including Digital, Product Management, Merchandising, and the Macy’s Media Network, to ensure alignment on processes, strategies, and goals.

 

What You Will Do

Support the Director of Marketplace Seller Management & Optimization in executing the marketplace seller management strategy, focusing on optimizing a strategic set of sellers while ensuring a top-tier customer experience. Collaborate cross-functionally to align on goals, seller strategy, and the long-term strategic vision. Work closely with the seller community and internal partners to drive the adoption of performance-enhancing seller services, including advertising products. Build expertise in the seller experience, understanding the key decisions that lead to seller success. Partner with Merchandising to align seller community strategies with Macy’s objectives. Drive seller growth and strengthen relationships year-over-year, providing regular progress reports. Develop in-depth knowledge of Macy’s brand and customer base to ensure that the marketplace is accurately represented.

 

Skills You Will Need

Digital Commerce and Marketplace Expertise: Strong understanding and passion for digital commerce and marketplace platforms, with an ability to leverage this knowledge to optimize seller strategies.

Project Management and Prioritization: Proven project management skills with a sense of urgency; ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and communicate timelines effectively.

Analytical and Strategic Thinking: Ability to think creatively, strategically, analytically, and technically to drive marketplace growth and seller success.

Communication and Collaboration: Excellent written and verbal communication skills; able to effectively communicate technical information, issues, and solutions across all levels of the organization and with external stakeholders.

Customer-Centric Focus: A strong customer-focused mindset, with experience in cross-functional collaboration to ensure alignment with Macy’s brand and customer expectations.

Stakeholder Management: Demonstrated success in managing external stakeholders and fostering strong seller relationships, with a focus on year-over-year growth and engagement.

Adaptability and Bias for Action: Ability to take ownership of projects, adapt to evolving business needs, and make quick, informed decisions.

Technical Proficiency: Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) and comfortable working with performance reporting tools and digital applications used in managing the Marketplace business.

Confidentiality and Professionalism: Maintains confidentiality with sensitive company information, acting with professionalism and integrity.
