Sr. Manager, Supply Strategy & Analytics
About The Team
The Supply Chain Strategy team is a community of analysts with a variety of strategic and technical skillsets. We work together to continually improve CarMax’s ability to optimize the acquisition, movement, and reconditioning of each of the over 900,000 vehicles we sold to retail customers last year, as well as optimizing our auctions for the over 700,000 wholesale cars we sold to other dealers.
Our team tackles complex problems while striving to be a great representation of CarMax’s 4 core values:
Do the Right Thing: We prioritize maintaining the culture of integrity which has set CarMax apart in the used car industry, and promote a respectful and inclusive environment at work
Put People First: We’re focused on nurturing associate development and on maintaining a healthy work culture, while also making sure our customers are offered a great experience
Win Together: Teamwork is essential to what we do; we regularly learn from each other and draw on each other’s expertise and perspectives
Go for Greatness: We continually improve our abilities and the products that we support, to reinforce CarMax’s position as an industry leader
About The Role
CarMax relies on our supply chain as a key differentiator. Key questions include how many cars we should acquire, which acquisition channels we should prioritize, how to optimize those channels, how to efficiently move millions of cars a year, when and where to recondition those vehicles, how to best allocate the retail cars across our 200+ stores, and how to maximize profitability in our auctions for our wholesale cars. Doing so ensures that we have the right cars at the right prices in the right location to meet our retail and wholesale customers’ needs. As we continue to innovate our business and shift more of our buying and selling online, we increasingly need to answer those questions quickly with less human intervention. Our team of business analysts play a critical role in unlocking the business value from these innovations by partnering closely with our Operations and Product/Technology business partners.
As a Senior Manager of Strategy, you will work with analysts on the Supply Chain Strategy team and with business partners/stakeholders to make key recommendations and ensure our Supply Chain is optimized to support our strategic goals.
