Our Government Affairs Function is seeking a Senior Manager to join the Space, Strategic, Missile Defense & Technology mission team.

Lockheed Martin Government Affairs (LMGA) manages all U.S. government customer relationships and develops policy, regulatory, and legislative strategies for all Lockheed Martin programs, products, and services. Our mission is to provide a premium, integrated government affairs capability to create a competitive advantage for and support of the long-term growth of Lockheed Martin.

Primary responsibility will be to provide strategic marketing and business development support to the Lockheed Martin operating companies conducting business with the civil space elements of the U. S. government in the Washington, D.C. area, including NASA Headquarters, NASA Goddard Space Flight Center, NOAA Headquarters, and NOAA/NESDIS.

Specific customer focus will be on NASA and NOAA, but broad understanding of the wider set of customers and users in this domain is also required. Candidate will represent LM’s weather and Earth science portfolio, including the GOES-R and GeoXO programs.

Principal activities will involve the development and implementation of strategies to keep existing Lockheed Martin Space Science and Meteorological programs sold, and to help position the corporation for new business in these and related areas.

Candidate will work closely with the LM Legislative Affairs team in the development of integrated marketing and congressional strategies and plans, and support business interests and related activities with the LM Commercial Civil Space line of business.

Limited travel would be expected for this job.

This is an on-site (4 days per week) position located at our Crystal City, Arlington facility. This position is also on a 9/80 schedule, with every other Friday off, as business allows.

Basic Qualifications:
* Minimum of 10 years directly related experience with civil space programs and U.S. government customers and stakeholders.

* Extensive understanding of and familiarity with related U.S. government agencies and an extensive network with leaders and staff within these agencies, including DOD’s weather community and NASA’s science and human spaceflight communities.

* Deep understanding of relevant customer communities (ex NASA, NOAA) and key players, ideally from some number of years working in government or representing industry in this capacity.

* Candidate must possess excellent inter-personal and communications/writing skills, and be proficient in all standard MS Office productivity software (Word, Power Point, Excel, Teams).

* U.S. citizenship as this position accesses export controlled information.
Desired Skills:
* Extensive past U.S. government service in related fields.

* Working knowledge of NOAA and NASA business, budgeting, and acquisition processes.

* Well versed in DC political, policy, and business environments.

* While engineering credentials are not required, technical understanding of satellite
systems, space science, and meteorology is preferred.

* Strategic thinking – understands “big picture” analysis from both the technological and business case perspectives.

Ability to Work Remotely: Part-time Remote Telework: The employee selected for this position will work part of their work schedule remotely and part of their work schedule at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. The specific weekly schedule will be discussed during the hiring process.
Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
