Sr. Manager Sustainability Regulations & Reporting

Job Purpose:

Our Sustainability EPR Advocacy & Innovation Manager, under the general supervision of the Senior Director of Sustainability, will serve as a subject matter expert to Veritiv's sales teams and customers. This position will provide guidance on Extended Producer Responsibility (ERP) and other relevant regulations that apply to our products, advising on new and existing compliant product offerings that assist customers in achieving their sustainability goals. They will also be responsible for leading the innovation funnel related to sustainability products, researching new materials, and coordinating efforts to bring products to market.

Job Responsibilities:

● Use EPR assessment findings and recommendations to design overall solution for Veritiv’s customers.
● Communicate to customers and sellers on the value of Sustainability in everything we do. Demonstrate Veritiv’s capabilities, specifically in areas of product regulations and sustainability attributes requirements.
● Coordinate responses to customers’ requests regarding Sustainability, developing tailored product bundle’s that comply with relevant regulations where products are sold.
● Provide expertise working with customer and sales to determine optimal solution to meet customers’ goals regarding Sustainability.
● Serve as the advisor to the Category Management, Supply Chain, and Operations teams to ensure product sustainability, packaging and chemical regulatory compliance requirements are met prior to new product commercialization. Identify and manage relevant compliance risks early in the product life cycle.
● Interface with Legal, Sales, Category Management, Suppliers, Customers and 3rd Party Qualifiers on product compliance and sustainability topics.
● Periodically coach sales and sales support teams in regulatory and sustainability matters.

Additional Responsibilities & Qualifications:

● Provide written responses for new bid documents in collaboration with the proposals team and strategic segment leaders.
● Continuously monitor emerging regulatory concerns, industry trends, and relevant customers’ stated goals.
● Build strong relationships with peers and functional.
● Initiate relevant market monitoring and fore sighting activities, including search for new market opportunities, user needs, and new materials in the market.
● Maintain an innovation portfolio (consisting of e.g. new sustainable materials and products) in collaboration with Category Management, International Sourcing team, Design, Marketing, and any other sources of product innovation.
● Develop appropriate metrics to measure the effectiveness (e.g., number of new offerings) and efficiency (e.g., throughput time) of the innovation process.
● Develop innovation process documentation.
● Establish relationships and networks with internal stakeholders.

Work Experience:

● 10-15 years of related job experience.● 1-3 years of related experience of successful supervisory/management experience required to motivate and develop direct reports, as well as size up new talent.● Ability to work quickly and efficiently.● Excellent verbal, written, people, and diplomacy skills are required.● Experience of interpreting strategy and policy in order to set and deliver objectives.● Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite.● Strong customer service skills (friendly, courteous and helpful).● Strong planning and organization skills are required.

● Bachelor's Degree
