Job SummaryThis position is for a degreed and experienced welding and additive engineer to support the welding, additive manufacturing, and heat treating related operations in a FAA repair station.
• Perform the duties of the Subject Matter Expert (SME) on welding (EBW & GTAW), additive (LMD-w, LMD-P), and heat treatment processes.
• Plan and perform welding substantiation tests in compliance with customer requirements to yield robust welding procedures and practices.
• Provide oversight and/or perform machine and performance certifications.
• Programming of EB Weld and DED equipment for tool pathing and parameters.
• Create engineering & quality process control procedures for welding, additive, heat treating, and pyrometry.
• Create and execute technical test plans both in house and at remote supplier facilities.
• Perform complex data analysis to develop and optimize complex engineering processes.
• Produce test reports for both internal and external customers.
• Support welding, additive, and heat treating operations to ensure compliance with engineering requirements for consumables, equipment specifications & start-up, tooling design, instrumentation, calibration, training and planning.
• Supports and complies with all EH&S, behaviour and export compliance policies and procedures.
• Will be required to supervise and/or train other engineering staff.
• Must practice and help enforce safety considerations in adherence to company standards at all times.
Required Qualifications:
• PhD, MS, or BS degree in a relevant engineering material joining or deposition technologies
• 5+ years of related aerospace component manufacturing or repair experience
• 4+ years of EBW low voltage process experience including programming & equipment operation
• 2+ years of GTAW precision welding experience on titanium alloys
• 2+ years of directed energy additive manufacturing processes
• Experience with tool path programming of multi axis motion systems
• Knowledge and experience in metallurgical evaluations with emphasis on titanium alloys
• Training & experience on RCCA and process failure analysis methods
• Experience in working to engineering & quality compliance documents; standard practice manuals, repair manual, substantiation procedures, aerospace engine and structures process control specifications and industry standards
• Experience with machine and performance qualification system to AWS D17.1
• Experience in training welders and welding operators in EBW and GTAW
• Technical writing and verbal communication skills in English
• Knowledge and experience with common aerospace NDE processes
• Experience with business and data analysis software; MS Office and qualification control/SPC programs
• Experience in the design and execution of design of experiment process development and optimization
• Able to work in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Must be a US person or US Citizen
Preferred Qualifications:
• Advanced degree in related engineering discipline
• Programming and operation training on Sciaky EB welding machines
• Experience in CFMI, GE, PWA and other engine MRO environment
• Experience with SAP ERP software systems
• Knowledge/Practice of ISO 9001
Must be able and willing to travel 20%-40% both domestic & internationally
