Enabling the movement towards advanced chip design, KLA's Global Products Group (GPG), which is responsible for creating all of KLA’s metrology and inspection products, is looking for the best and the brightest research scientist, software engineers, application development engineers, and senior product technology process engineers. The RAPID division is the world leading provider of reticle inspection solutions for the semiconductor industry. The company provides inspection solutions to both the mask shops and the semiconductor fabs to ensure that lithography yields are consistently high thus enabling cost-effective manufacturing.Job Description/Preferred Qualifications
Responsibilities
Design of precision components, modules and subsystems for ultra-high vacuum systems, focused on multidisciplinary and highly complex motion systems, to support the design of the next generation reticle inspection tools.
Responsible for the complete design process, including:
Own full design cycle from defining mechanical architecture to developing manufacturing drawings, handling / improving prototypes and documentations.
Driving requirements specification
Conceptual and detailed design, detailed drawings, using 3D solid modeling (ProE/Creo)
Conducting various analysis, such as fluid, thermal, vibrational, and FEA modeling
Understanding of Geometric Tolerancing (GD&T)
Detailed tolerance stack-up analysis
Hold design reviews throughout design process
Procurement of prototype parts
Prototype assembly and testing
System integration and testing
Create assembly and test procedures
Documentation release and handoff to manufacturing.
On-site management and coordination of system installations and commissioning activities:
Run daily meetings to plan activities for all individuals involved in the integration of system builds.
Assign resources and provide solutions on the floor to resolve issues with other engineering and facility teams.
Own and maintain the schedule for all tool installations and integration.
Work with multiple subsystem owners to arrange all engineering projects and tasks/activities on daily basis.
Be the single point of contact for suppliers, logistics, facilities, operations and other engineering teams to provide timely responses for urgent requests from the floor.
Some traveling will be required
Support the following activities in the mechanical design process:
Work with cross-functional teams to establish tool requirements / specifications.
Feasibility studies
Cost and scheduling
Planning and scheduling design reviews throughout DfX process
Assist with prototype assembly and testing
Address and resolve product issues through all phases
Abilities & Experience
Strong leadership, communication and problem solving skills.
Minimum 4 years work experience in 3D solid modeling
Background in the design of mechanisms.
Basic understanding of optical subsystems.
Familiar with manufacturing processes including machining, sheet metal fabrication, welding fabrication and castings.
Participate in and lead design reviews to obtain a peer-oriented design assessment.
Contribute to team effort to accomplish overall objectives as needed.
Demonstrate perseverance and a drive to be better.
Qualifications
Strong mechanical engineering fundamentals, including design principles, mahine elements, materials, fabrication methods.
Must be proficient with solid CAD (ProEngineer/Creo skill strongly preferred).
Experience in several of these areas is desirable: opto-mechanical systems, ultra-high vacuum systems, design of inspection equipment or similar instruments, motion controls, electronics, data acquisition systems such as Labview, measurement instrumentation, tooling & test fixture design, supplier management, new product introduction, manufacturing support
Should have experience in thermal, structural analysis and fluid flow modeling (Pro/Mechanica, ANSYS, CF Design skill strongly preferred).
Minimum Qualifications
Doctorate (Academic) or work experience of 2 years, Master's Level Degree or work experience of 4 years, Bachelor's Level Degree or work experience of 5 years
