A Sr. Mechanical Engineer job is available with our client in Middletown, RI. In this role you will be a member of a cross functional team responsible for designing, building, and testing a torpedo tube deployment system capable of launching payloads from a submarine platform. To be considered for this role, you will have a Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field and a minimum of 8 or more years of job-related experience. Due to the nature of the work performed in this facility, US citizenship is required.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Design of electro-mechanical systems capable of surviving harsh environmental conditions (shock, vibration, temperature).
* Utilizing CAD tools to create 3D models and drawings for technical data packages that meet ASME Y14.5 and ASME Y14.100 standards.
* Performing structural and thermal analyses to meet submarine environmental requirements.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
* Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering or Mathematics field and a minimum of 8 or more years of job-related experience OR
* Master's degree plus 6 years of job-related experience
* Advanced proficiency with modeling CAD tools to create mechanical models and drawings.
* Extensive knowledge of manufacturing and fabrication methods, as well as technical, government, and industry standards.
* Exceptional communication skills with experience writing technical papers and proposals.
* Collaborative, creative thinker with experience leading complex projects with successful outcomes.
* Commitment to ongoing professional development for yourself and others
* Must have defense industry background
* Experience in Mechanical Design
* Extensive CAD experience (SolidWorks or CREO)
* Strong drafting background (ASME Y14.100, ASME Y14.5)
* Familiar with designing for defense applications (envrionmental requirements - shock, vibration, temp)
