Sr. Mechanical HVAC Systems Engineer Job Number: 354125 Category: -Engineering & Design SBU Description: We are seeking a highly skilled and innovative Sr. Mechanical HVAC Systems Engineer specializing in modular HVAC equipment skids for cooling system applications to join our dynamic team in Houston, TX. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical engineering principles and HVAC design integration with extensive experience in the design for manufacturability (DFM) and product optimization. Primary Responsibilities: Will apply critical thinking skills to initial planning, procurement support, plan development, design, construction and commissioning phases of projects Be a creative problem solver and actively look for the best way to support our varied customers and/or commercial clients Will often work on multiple projects simultaneously and perform other duties as required This position immediately offers opportunities for continuous growth while solving problems in the engineering and construction industry This Engineer typically serves the projects in both the field and the office, as necessary Conduct duct sizing and pressure drop calculations HVAC Equipment sizing and specifications, AHU's, DX Units, Chillers, Pumping systems, Modular Towers, Tanks and Heat exchangers, etc. Broad application of principles, theories and concepts in HVAC and mechanical engineering, plus working knowledge of other related integrated fields, i.e. Electrical/Controls, Structural Work with young engineering team members providing oversight and training Provide resolution to a diverse scope and range of complex problems where analysis of data requires evaluation of identifiable factors Demonstrate good judgment in selecting methods and techniques for obtaining solutions Development of project design basis, development of specifications, and performance of detailed engineering Ensure conformance to applicable engineering codes and standards as well as company policies and procedures May perform in project leadership role and/or may supervise the activities of lower-level personnel Contribute to a team environment Perform detailed technical analysis of complex project issues Break complex technical tasks into manageable subtasks Travel to site locations to provide engineering support, meetings with clients, and meetings at other company offices to support engineering efforts Professional Qualifications This position will require prior knowledge of the engineering and construction industry Understanding of corporate mechanisms such as scopes of work, construction safety protocols, and experience in a professional work environment A seasoned experienced professional with a full understanding of mechanical engineering resolving a wide range of issues in creative ways Experience in HVAC, ASHRAE, ASME, UL, SMACNA & ACGIH Codes Requires Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Mechanical Engineering with 10+ years related experience Strong computer skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and technical engineering software, some CADD experience (AutoCAD, REVIT and/or SolidWorks) along with good verbal and writing skills Candidates must be willing to travel for infrequent field assignments Must be a US Citizen and be able to pass a background check to gain access to government facilities Ability to work independently and in a diverse team setting Willingness to work across Engineering disciplines Strong multitasking skills Strong problem-solving skills PE is a requirement We provide a competitive pay and benefits package. This position is offering a salary rate of $100,000 to $175,000 however, Belcan considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to education, experience, geographic location, and discipline.
