Sr. Medical Courier/Specimen Processing Specialist

This is a unique role that will split duties between the Courier and Specimen Processing departments.   Will work the first half of the shift performing Courier/route driving duties and upon delivery of specimens to the branch, will perform Specimen Processing & Accessioning duties. 

**Pay Range: $17.50 - $28.00 per hour 

3rd shift differential

All job offers will be based on a candidate’s skills and prior relevant experience, applicable degrees/certifications, as well as internal equity and market data

Work Schedule: Monday – Friday 9:00pm – 5:30am

 Driver/Courier Responsibilities

Act as a floater for the logistics team providing as needed coverage for various routesProvide on route training for new couriers/driversAssist with dispatch and pickups when neededLoad all necessary suppliers needed for the daily pickupsComplete daily pick up schedule in a timely mannerDeliver all daily picks to your branch at the end of your shiftHandle all specimens and lab samples in safe and efficient mannerSafely operate company vehicle and obey all traffic lawsUtilize handheld electronic device to manage daily picks upWork directly with dispatcher for additional pick-ups as neededEvaluate traffic patterns, alternative routes and weather conditions as needed 

Specimen Processor Responsibilities

Prepare laboratory specimens for analysis and testingPick up samples directly from client officeCommunicate effectively with client office staffResearch, troubleshoot and resolve and document customer and specimen problems, return specimens to client offices for corrections as neededPartner with sales to resolve onsite concerns/issues and support initial client set up and expectation settingScrub requisitions to resolve missing items/detailsSpin/freeze/split or other special services as required by clientMeet department activity and production goalsData entry of patient information in an accurate and timely manner Accurately identify and label specimens Properly prepare and store excess specimen samples

Requirements:

High School Diploma or equivalent is preferred Previous or current Labcorp experience is highly preferred1 year relative experience required (lab/accessioning, production/manufacturing/warehouse environment or patient facing health care experience)1 year patient facing healthcare experience required3+ years Previous driver/courier experience is required Proficient computer and typing skillsMust pass standardized color vision testComfortable handling human biological specimens including blood, urine and tissue samplesAbility to lift up to 30lbs, work in protective equipment and sit/stand for long periods of timeStrong eye hand coordination in order to accurately identify specimens by touch and sightAbility to work both independently and in a team environmentHigh level of attention to detail with the ability to problem solveStrong communication skills; both written and verbalMust have a Valid Driver's License and good driving recordMust be at least 21 years’ old
