We are looking for a Sr. West Mito Regional Lead (MRL) who is excellent at account management, focused customer engagement with strategic planning & execution skills, clinical & disease expertise, and most importantly does all of this with a commitment to patients and their families, to join us in our UCB’s Rare Disease Organization team. A field-based opportunity residing in California, Washington, and Nevada, that includes extended coverage in Oregon, Wyoming, Nebraska, Idaho, Utah, North Dakota, South Dakota, Colorado, Kansas and Montana.
About the role
The Mito Regional Lead (MRL) has a focus on our ultra-rare mitochondrial disease asset for Thymidine Kinase 2 Deficiency, awaiting FDA submission and approval. The MRL will operate within an assigned territory to engage with targeted accounts, and academic and community thought leaders through the effective implementation of approved materials and account management strategies. The primary aim will be to deliver disease state, product, and resource education to healthcare providers and their office staff to support early diagnosis of TK2d patients and treatment of appropriate patients.
Ensure key customers understand clinical data, specialty pharmacy & access information, and company resources to support prescribing, initiation, and continuity of therapy for patients. The MRL will work to understand the referral networks within their territory to identify opportunities for targeted disease education. Additionally, this role will offer vital support for reimbursement and navigation of the processes necessary to obtain therapy. This comprehensive approach will enhance the in-office experience and ultimately maximize patient value and impact, consistent with the application of UCB’s Patient Value Strategy principles
Who you’ll work with
The MRL will report directly to the Head of Mito National Field Team Lead Work with an overlapping cross-functional team cultivating collaborative, team-oriented relationships, seamlessly integrating with local UCB ecosystems and with business partners in a complex matrix environmentParticipate, collaborate, and partner with internal stakeholders to gain insights, solve challenges, and align on prioritiesStakeholders, including Thought Leader Liaisons, Medical Science Liaisons, Diagnostic Liaisons, Payor Account Managers, Patient Engagement Coordinators, and when appropriate, Global Patient Engagement and Specialty Pharmacy representativesProvide senior-level support and presence for thought leaders and other key clinicians
What you’ll do
Creating insights-based account plans for all accounts to include key decision-maker prioritization and thorough situational analysis i.e., SWOT, barriers and drivers, patient journeyAnalyzing key COE and System opportunities, educational gaps, and stakeholders for business planning and tracking against business goals and objectives Develop, present, and execute a comprehensive quarterly regional business plan aligned to strategic objectives Utilize dynamic targeting and omnichannel tools to maximize impact with accounts and HCP’sEffectively and professionally navigate through complex multi-stakeholder organizations including academic institutions, hospital systems, and large healthcare communitiesIdentify and execute health system EHR patient-finding opportunitiesServes as a liaison to all engaged accounts prescribing UCB productsIdentifies reimbursement-specific opportunities or issues impacting patient access to UCB medications and educates internal partners on these dynamicsProvide on-demand education for the provider and office staff regarding reimbursement and support services available through UCBIdentify ethical and innovative customer-oriented strategies to adapt to changing marketsRepresenting UCB positively and professionally at company meetings and conferences, ensuring all activities comply with laws, regulations, policies, and guidelinesOur 4 Pillars in Rare Disease Organization

For this role, we’re looking for the following education, experience, and skills
Bachelor’s degree in life science, business or healthcare Minimum 10+ years of Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical commercial experienceMinimum 2+ years with academic centers and hospital systems Minimum 5+ years of proficiency in reimbursement, account management, or KOL development, in any combination of these areasAbility to gain consistent access & develop strong, professional relationships for scientific exchange and promotion with healthcare providersDemonstrated ability to successfully seek out and qualify leads, as well as profile new accountsAbility to travel extensively in some regions possibly up to 50-70% throughout the assigned territory, with some overnights will be requiredPreferred Experience/Skills:
Strong preference for candidates with experience in Rare Disease, Neurology, Clinical Genetics, Metabolic Disease, or other indications requiring similar skills, medical knowledge, a high level of interaction and support, complex treatment regimens, access, and adherence challengesExperience in building disease awareness and launching first-in-class therapies, including rare disease products Proficient in leveraging multiple data sources for customer engagement to drive patient value, utilizing digital business tools to develop actional strategies and ensure successful product launchesThis position's reasonably anticipated base salary range is $160,000 - $210,000 per year, with a corporate bonus. The actual salary offered will take into account internal equity and may also vary depending on the candidate’s geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other factors.
