Job DescriptionSkyworks is looking for an RF Module Design Engineer to join highly successful and energetic Mobile Solution Business team in Irvine, CA! As a Module Engineer you will be responsible for design and development of highly integrated cellular front-end Tx/Rx modules incorporating active and passive devices leading to high volume production ramp for mobile markets. Job Responsibilities Contribute to the design of an RF front-end module and continuously improving its performance. Develop a clear understanding of customer design specifications and be able to translate full module requirements to subsystem design targets. Apply Microwave Engineering and RFIC design fundamentals to steer PA, LNA, filter, and laminate design tapeouts. Develop high-accuracy simulation benches using ADS, HFSS, or Cadence tools. Adopt the best MCM design and full module co-simulation practices. Lab tuning, data review and analysis. Work with Product Engineering team to review automated testing result reports and limits. Provide detailed technical reports. Design high-isolation laminate layouts to meet high density component module and able to meet stringent requirements such as de-sense and harmonics. Participate in and conduct design review meetings. Drive lab testing and tuning using various RF test equipment. The circuit blocks involved in a typical product development may include: Power amplifiers, integrated passive devices, SAW/BAW duplexers and high-Q RF filters, switches, low noise amplifiers, matching circuits, and high-directivity couplers. Software Tools Used: Ansoft HFSS, Agilent ADS and Momentum, Cadence Allegro and Virtuoso Layout. Hardware Tools Used: Network analyzers, spectrum analyzers, signal generators, digital receivers, load-pull/tuners, RF probe stations Job Requirements BS and 5 years experience required or MS Experience with design simulation tools or equivalent - Agilent ADS, HFSS, APD, Cadence, Orcad Solid understanding of RF concepts such as impedance matching, impedance transformation, distributed systems, passive RLC and resonant circuits, noise, linearity, bandwidth and stability Knowledge of RF Design Architecture - Experience and familiarity with wireless transceiver architectures, system requirements, standards, receiver and transmitter chain sub-blocks (e.g., LNAs, Switches or PAs) Knowledge of test parameters and test equipment - Experience and familiarity with testing, evaluation and debugging RF module designs in a lab environment. Should be proficient in use of network analyzer, spectrum analyzer, signal generators, oscilloscope Relevant experience in PA, RF switches design or multi-chip module (MCM) design including filter and matching networks to support fully integrated front end module designs A self-starter and team player with strong desire to learn on the job Strong desire and commitment to take product from concept to volume production Excellent written and oral communication skills
The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is currently USD $89,100 - $172,100 per year. Starting base pay will depend on relevant experience and skills, training and education, business needs, market demands, the ultimate job duties and requirements, and work location.
