Job Description:

Parsons is looking for a talented IT Sr. Network Resident Engineer to join our team! In this role you will get to help improve the IT functions at the Asheville Airport.

Responsibilities:

Coordination across technical disciplines and trades for a large, phased, multi-faceted network and service hosting migration program.Assist and lead network migration, inspection, and coordination efforts, working as an integral part of the build and AVL IT teams.Directly manage and configure network devices and services, in support of network migration, contractor onboarding, inspections, testing, and continued AVL operations.Document field conditions, changes, logical configuration details (as-builts), system and telecom / infrastructure testing.Develop and implement labeling and installation guidelines aligned with AVL IT preferences and best practice.Oversee installation of equipment by contractors, working to ensure consistent implementation across construction work packages.Participate in design-build coordination and program schedule recurring meetings, providing updates on open action items and driving completion of work in progress through collaboration and direct responsibilities.

Ability to communicate effectively at a technical level across the following topics:Cisco Campus and Service Hosting Network ArchitectureVMWare Server and Network VirtualizationNetwork Security Design Standards, Frameworks (e.g. NIST) and Industry Best PracticesFundamental Enterprise IT Services (Network Monitoring, Active Directory, Certificate Servers, etc.)Network Storage (NAS)Low-Level Design, Build and Migration experience in the following:Cisco Catalyst 9K Series Enterprise Networks, including configuration and advanced troubleshooting:Virtual Routing & Forwarding (VRFs), Virtual Local Area Networks (VLANs), and tagging / trunkingSpanning Tree Protocol (RSTP)Cisco StackWise Virtual, STP avoidance topologiesInterior Routing protocols, including EIGRP, and OSPF.Multicast Routing protocols, including PIM-DM/SMQuality of Service (QOS)Network Access / Admission Control (NAC)Palo Alto Next Generation Firewalls (NGFW), including:Security Policies, Moves, Adds & ChangesIPSec, SSL and Persistent Site-to-Site Virtual Private Networks (VPNs)Best Practice and inspection of Telecom infrastructure, including:Horizontal cabling infrastructurePathway EMT conduit, cable tray, and j-hooksSingle-Mode Fiber Optic (SMFO) network infrastructureCable management and labelingElectrical grounding fundamentalsEquipment enclosures, racks and cabinets

Education and Professional Certifications:

Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering or related technical discipline (ABET Accredited Programs) preferred.Certifications: Cisco Certified Network Professional (CCNP) Enterprise or Cisco Certified Internetwork Expert (CCIE)Other Certifications: VMWare VCP, Nutanix Certified Professional (NCP), or Palo Alto Certified Network Security Engineer (PCNSE), BICSI Registered Communication Distribution Designer (RCDD) certifications are beneficial but not required

Note:  This job includes physical on-site installation of equipment and infrastructure, network and security device configuration and collaboration with multi-discipline professionals. It is common to perform site-walks across the campus, including areas actively under construction, to investigate existing conditions in a phased approach, while also installing, troubleshooting and testing equipment. The candidate must be able to physically accommodate the working conditions of an active construction environment, and carefully follow security, safety and code requirements.

Salary Range: 

$96,400.00 - $168,700.00
