Job Title: Senior Operations Accountant
Company Overview: A global provider of peaking-power solutions, specializing in aeroderivative power services.
Position Summary: The Senior Operations Accountant manages financial control of project costs, ensuring compliance with GAAP and company policies. Key responsibilities include month-end closing, financial reporting, cost analysis, budget preparation, and collaboration with project managers.
Responsibilities:
+ Execute month-end activities (journal entries, reconciliations).
+ Collaborate with departments for accurate transaction processing.
+ Prepare internal financial reports and analyze project performance.
+ Monitor project costs, ensuring they align with budgets.
+ Support audits and implement process improvements.
Key Challenges in the Role:
+ Ensuring accurate financial reporting within tight deadlines while managing multiple projects.
+ Identifying and addressing variances between budgeted and actual costs, which can be complex in diverse projects.
+ Maintaining compliance with evolving GAAP standards and company policies in a dynamic environment.
+ Collaborating across departments to ensure timely and accurate transaction processing, which requires strong communication skills.
Strategies to Overcome Challenges:
+ Implement robust financial software to streamline reporting and enhance accuracy in financial data.
+ Establish a standardized budget review process to regularly monitor variances and adjust forecasts proactively.
+ Foster open communication and collaboration across departments to ensure all stakeholders are aligned on financial goals and timelines.
+ Invest in continuous training and development to keep accounting staff updated on GAAP changes and industry best practices.
Requirements
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor's degree in Finance or Accounting.
+ 3-5 years of relevant experience and strong financial principles understanding.
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
+ Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
Desired Qualifications:
+ CPA designation preferred.
+ Experience with ERP systems and project accounting.
