Sr. Operations Manager

Location: Death Valley, California

Stovepipe Wells in Death Valley National Park - Journey Beyond the Ordinary. Stovepipe Wells has an 80-room hotel, restaurant, bar, pool, gas station, general store, and gift shop.  Stovepipe is a welcoming, safe, and environmentally responsible resort providing accommodations and services inside Death Valley National Park. Over the next few years, the resort will undergo upgrades to rejuvenate accommodations and dining for public enjoyment.  POWDR operates Stovepipe Wells under a long-term concession contract with the National Park Service.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Retail and Lodging                                                                      

Inventory activities such as formulating pricing from marginal demands and performing regular cycle counts of inventory to manage products sold.Manages labor, payroll, and expense to meet the annual budgetary goals.Creative and captivating displays for inventory flow, with feng shui techniques a bonusWorks with leadership to promote company marketing programs, sales and branding.Manages POS functionality by ensuring accurate product set up, item tree display, discounting options, and operator security.Works with management team to procure equipment, retail soft goods and accessories, and assists with logo apparel design process and branding.Matches and reconciles invoicing, orders and conducts monthly retail inventories.Leads Retail and Lodging Supervisors and teams to designate, allocate and delegate duties and ensure they are executing to high standardsEnsures optimal housekeeping standards in the rooms for cleanlinessCommunicates issues to teams and to Maintenance regularly

Maintenance

Oversees the Maintenance manager responsibilities of routine and non-routine work order entries into Maintain-X PM with associated expendituresSupports onsite CAPEX projects, and provides information to help facilitate onsite accessOversees the Integrated Pest Management program (IPM) and ensure aOther NPS tracking enter into Maintain-X and monitor Maintenance Manager team execution, while coaching to ensure requirement is metSupports Maintenance Manager to post NPS contract compliance documentationSupports Maintenance manager in delivering upon required standards for backup generators, power, emergency actions, hazard/universal waste, JSA/JHA, OSHA, SPCC, and other programs 

All ESQ, Leadership

Works with management team to procure ESQ, environmental, sustainability, safety and quality toolsLeads the ESQ safety, environment and quality committees reporting of Visitor Satisfaction and ESQ Scorecards, demonstrating actions for continual improvement Works with the HR Manager, GM and teams to ensure the implementation of ISO/ESQ compliance actions, supporting targets, and objectives, training programs and systems of monitoring and measuring set forth in company strategic plans for ESQ and NPS (Waste Abatement, Landfill Waste Diversion, Haz/Univ Waste, SPCC, Emergency Action Plans, Visitor Satisfaction, ESQ/ISO Management systems, and others )Works with GM and HR to implement employee relations, performance management, hiring and recruitment, team development and training, department meetings, accountability, coaching, rewarding, and communicating strengths and weaknesses and overall professional development.Documents employee issues and manages accordingly based on policy and procedure and works with HR to administer standards consistently.Promotes overall enjoyable staff experience by implementing positivity and fun in daily operations.Works closely with HR Manager and GM to oversee operations, emergency action plans, and coordinates on call MOD schedulesPosts all Departmental SOPs, records, reports into SharePoint, ensuring document and version controlWith HR and Dept Managers supports the Training Emergency Drills, OSHA, and ESQ Training Talk programs and coaches ESQ committees and supervisorsWorks with HR to implement the rewards and recognition program, employee of the month/quarter/year and performance management standardsAttends and participates National Park Service partner meetings, prepares to discuss agenda items and follows up on action itemsPrepares the departments for NPS evaluations, environmental and safety regulatory inspections, local, state and federal agency inspections and ISO audits.  Executes on standards, programs, documentation and records in preparation at all times, as most of these are unannounced.Regularly takes incoming calls from internal team, responds to emails efficiently and promptly responds to these communicationsWhen the Emergency Manager on duty is assigned, performs this task with efficiency, communications, transparency and responds promptly.
