The Sylvester - Pharmacy at the University of Miami has an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Pharmacy Buyer, Full Time position.
Under the supervision of the Senior Pharmacy Buyer and Pharmacy Management, the Pharmacy Buyer is responsible for the management of the 340B drug discount program, including oversight of the drug purchasing, inventory processes, dispensing patterns, monthly reporting on savings opportunities, split billing software management, and all areas of the program compliance. the Pharmacy Buyer collaborates with the pharmacy leadership team to plan, organize and operate the department and satellites to achieve organizational goals, meet customer needs and assure high quality services and products.
CORE JOB FUNCTIONS:
Manage drug selection, procurement, inventory control, and coordinate 340B program
Maintain pharmacy and 340B system database to reflect changes in the drug formulary or product specifications
Purchases all pharmaceuticals for the assigned facilities.
Manage purchasing, receiving and inventory control processes. Continuously monitor product min/max levels to effectively balance product availability and cost efficient inventory control. Assure appropriate safeguards and system integrity.
Assist with quarterly 340B audits or assists with these audits if to be performed by compliance/internal audit
Perform biannual inventory and monthly cycle counts
Assure compliance with the 340B program requirements of qualified patients, drugs and locations
Assure the institution is achieving maximum utilization of 340B pricing through full participation in all qualified areas with all applicable products to ensure optimal cost savings returns throughout the institution
Review and refine monthly 340B cost savings report detailing purchasing, and replacement practices, as well as dispensing patterns.
Coordinate 340B procurement/reporting processes with non-pharmacy departments as deemed necessary
Monitor ordering processes, integrating most current pricing from wholesaler
Analyze invoices, shipping and inventory processes
Works collaboratively with a broad cross section of managers, professionals and technical staff withing and outside of the organization to achieve results
Validate 340B qualifications in conjuction with finance and the 340B managers
Performs other duties as assigned by the Senior Pharmacy Buyer and/or Pharmacy Management
Ensure oversight of the Asst. Buy
Keeps abreast of contract changes and prepares vendor shipment returns.
Maintains appropriate inventory levels of drugs and supplies while staying within established budgets.
Coordinates disposal of all expired medications.
Prepares department for annual inventory, including updating shelf labels, inventory supply forms, and databases.
Ensures compliance with state and federal regulations.
Communicates shortages of medication or changes in medication stock availability.
Maintains invoicing for all drug and supply accounts.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.
