The Saint Alphonsus Medical Group is now hiring for a collaborative and experienced Sr. Provider Compensation Business Partner supporting the physician compensation area within the Physician/Provider Contracts Team!

Position Summary & Highlights:

THIS POSITION WILL NEED TO WORK IN-PERSON AND IS NOT REMOTE WORK. There will be flexibility to work at home on occasion.

The Senior Physician Contracting Business Partner plays a crucial role within the Saint Alphonsus Medical Group (SAMG) by working closely with executive and operational leaders, the provider recruitment team, and onboarding colleagues to develop, negotiate, and implement mutually beneficial physician contractual agreements.

This role provides regional leadership in physician compensation strategies, ensuring alignment with system goals, while achieving strategic objectives for the health system.

The Senior Business Partner works independently to track, negotiate, and obtain approvals for contract renewals and amendments and ensures compliance with federal and state regulations in both Idaho and Oregon.

The position will collaborate with SAMG and Trinity Health finance and legal services teams, as well as finance, legal services, third-party consultants and SAMG Executive Medical Directors.

What You Will Do:

Organizational Support

Serve as a subject matter expert and consult with providers and all levels of leadership throughout the organization on provider compensation policies, practices, and applicable federal regulations.

Support and maximize the business units’ operational and strategic performance by delivering services that ensure high level customer satisfaction. Build strong rapport and trust with providers, stakeholders, and cross functional teams to achieve the credibility necessary to enable challenging discussions around provider compensation.

Participate in provider recruitment by analyzing and implementing compensation models to ensure competitive recruitment of providers.

Compensation Models/Strategy

Partner with the Director of Physician Contracting in the development and implementation of provider compensation strategies and policies.

Facilitate compensation design efforts to support clinical care pathways, business development, and new programs.

Serve as an agent of the organization and present to and negotiate with physicians about compensation models with empowerment to make decisions on such physician's compensation.

Understand and execute a variety of compensation and benefit models to provide incentives for providers that fulfill the desired behaviors and work product.

 Work in a multi-state, matrix leadership and management model including developing, gaining approval for, implementing, and maintaining compensation models for primary care, specialists, and advanced practice providers.

Provide analysis and monitoring of provider productivity relative to compensation to assure balance between the two, and to assure good stewardship of SAHS resources.

Analyze data, identify trends, and incorporate benchmark data to develop and communicate fact-based conclusions.

Coordinate with the third-party compensation consultants and OGC to assess fair market value of compensation.

Contract Support

Monitor contract renewals and plans to ensure that work is started timely.  Negotiate with the physicians on contract renewals, and receives approval and implements the renewed agreements.

Partner with the Office of General Counsel (OGC), SAMG Administration, and other operational and executive leaders in the development, implementation, and execution of physician employment contracts.

Work with the SAMG finance team to provide information needed for the development of proformas.

Work across all levels of the organization for negotiating and implementing standard contracts including:  physicians, attorneys, and operational leaders

Training and Education

Provide ongoing education for front-line leaders and business unit leadership, helping to build provider compensation acumen across the organization and communicate complex payment methodologies in layman's terms.

Provide training and mentorship for analysts and junior level business partners on the Physician Contracting team.

Support the Provider Financial Analyst in compensation administration issues.

An ideal candidate will be able to develop solutions to complex problems, requiring a high degree of acumen and understanding of the business, health system governance, regulatory risks, and physician engagement. You will also have experience working across multiple levels of the organization, including physicians, attorneys, operational leaders, and finance teams and be able to communicate complex payment methodologies in understandable terms.

Minimum Qualifications:

BA/BS with emphasis in Business, Finance, or Health Care Management.  Master's degree preferred.

Four (4) years of experience in contract administration, compensation modeling, consulting, or healthcare operations leadership.

Experience in the health care industry with physician contracting and compensation modeling highly preferred.

Strong organizational and project management skills and experience.
