Sr. Polymer Formulation & Applications Engineer
The Sr. Polymer Formulation and Applications Engineer is responsible for defining and qualifying new products to meet customer needs for coated fiberglass and polymer textile products for Saint-Gobain ADFORS. This role combines technical expertise with strong communication and customer focus to ensure a clear understanding of requirements. - Key responsibilities include designing new formulations, improving existing ones for coated fabric products, and optimizing plant chemical processes across 4 locations: Albion, NY; Midland, Ontario; Dublin, GA; and Tlaxcala, Mexico. The role also involves collaborating with the ADFORS Product Management team to develop cost-effective, high-quality packaging solutions. Success in this position will be measured by the ability to deliver new products on schedule, achieve cost savings through innovative designs, and effectively address quality concerns. - The incumbent will develop, patent, and industrialize innovative fabric reinforcement products based on new developments in organic coatings, textile design, and fabric forming. You will work to create lab scale, pilot scale (when appropriate), and production trials that follow a clear technical product validation protocol with controlled approvals from both Sales and Operations. You will be responsible for maintaining a familiarity with textile binder formulations, textile production processes, and textile reinforcement design, including industrial coating processes, curing, laminating, and chemical adhesion. - You will be responsible for providing technical assistance, training, and support to engineering projects, customers, technicians, sales, marketing, quality, and to customers. Master’s or PhD degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science, Materials Science, or similar field required. Specialty in polymer science with formulation experience is preferred. Minimum 5+ years of work-related skill and experience with polymers or coating technologies. The candidate must have a valid driver’s license and passport for business travel 25-50% of the time and have the ability to travel domestically and internationally to Tlaxcala, Mexico, Midland, Ontario, Albion, NY, Dublin, GA , and to customer locations. We believe in the importance of pay transparency in what we offer potential candidates. Provided is the national pay range for this position which is $102,000 to $158,000 per year. However, the base pay offered may vary depending on geographic region, internal equity, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors. - In addition to base salary, this position is eligible for an annual bonus. The targeted bonus amount is 13% of base salary based on individual performance measures. The Total Target Cash range (base pay and annual bonus) for this position, is $115,200-TTC to $178,500-TTC.
