Description
As a Power Electronics Engineer at eero, you will work with the rest of the Hardware Engineering team to design, implement, debug, and characterize embedded systems and accessories for wired and wireless networking applications. This role is responsible for all aspects of power conversion and distribution within eero devices, including AC-DC power supplies, DC-DC converters, and the power paths within Power over Ethernet (PoE) and USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) sub-systems.
Key job responsibilities
In this role, you will:
• Develop power distribution sub-systems for wired and wireless networking devices, from power tree architecture and component selection through schematic and PCB layout
• Review, optimize, and perform power integrity simulations for PCB layouts
• Optimize DC-DC converter efficiency on eero products, improving thermal performance and contributing to Amazon's Climate Pledge goals
• Oversee development of eero AC-DC power supply units, writing specifications and reviewing ODM designs and validation plans
• Design the power paths of PoE Powered Device (PD), PoE Power Sourcing Equipment (PSE), and USB-PD sub-systems
• Participate in the process of taking eero’s hardware from the prototype stage to mass production
• Provide engineering support to manufacturing during the NPI process

Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering
- 7+ years of experience in board-level design, component selection, and prototyping for high-volume, cost-optimized consumer electronics
- 5+ years of experience designing, testing, and debugging power electronics such as AC-DC and DC-DC power converters and switching power supplies
- Familiarity with schematic capture and PCB layout software tools (preferably Cadence tools)
- Experience designing and testing products for ESD/EMI immunity, safety, and compliance with regulatory standards
- Hands-on experience bringing up prototypes, developing, and running tests for power sub-systems in a hardware lab setting
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Deep understanding of different circuit topologies for power electronics
- Understanding of integration challenges for power management circuitry on networking products that use wireless technologies such as Wi-Fi, cellular, and Bluetooth/Zigbee/Thread
- Experience with PoE (both PSE and PD designs)
- Understanding of power requirements for implementing the USB-C and USB-PD standards
- Experience working with CM/OEM/ODM partners on product development
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes for power electronics, including DFM and DFT
