Our employees are not only part of history, they're making history. Sr. Principal Research Scientist – Level 4 **This position will be located at on-site at our Rocket Center, WV location. No remote work is available for this position.** This position will play a role in overseeing areas of the lab operations, ensuring quality control, and leading special project and investigations. This position requires an understanding of chemical principles, lab procedures, and data analysis along with communication skills. Position summary + Oversee daily operations within areas of the lab ensuring adherence to safety and quality control procedures. + Development and validation new analytical test methods. + Lead special projects, investigations, continuous improvements and research initiatives. + Prepare and review technical reports and memorandums. + Collaborate with cross-functional teams. + Actively contributes to the development of new or refined laboratory methods, instrumentation, or analysis + Contribute to the development and implementation of lab policies and procedures. Basic Qualifications + Bachelor’s degree in Chemistry or related science field + 8 years of experience with a BS; 6 years of experience with a Masters; 4 years of experience with a PhD + Strong verbal, written and interpersonal skills necessary to effectively collaborate in a team environment + Experience working effectively under deadlines, with considerable latitude in determining technical objectives and a track record of delivering results + Excellent problem solving and analytical skills + Ability to work independently and as part of a team + Willingness to work outside of standard work hours when needed to resolve issues + Experience as a user or architect of a Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) + Strong knowledge with chemical and physical analytical techniques such as: SEM, ICP, FTIR, Chromatography, and other common lab testing practices/equipment + Proficiency in MS office tools (Excel, Word, PowerPoint) **Salary Range:** $118,600 - $178,000 The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
