POSITION SUMMARY

Applies engineering techniques, assists in the improvement of manufacturing processes and products and in the transition of new products and processes from R&D to production.  Recommends manufacturing equipment and processes designed to be efficient, cost-effective, and to promote quality and reliability. Leads multifunctional teams, driving results in a timely manner.  Troubleshoots equipment and processes. Trains personnel in equipment usage and processes. Performs work with a high degree of latitude.  Provides leadership to the engineering team.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Additional duties and responsibilities may be assigned, as necessary. 

New Product Development (NPD) and Request for Laboratory Service (RLS) Support (50%)

Lead NPD and RLS projects as assigned and in compliance with Procedures, Programs, and Policies.Assist in ensuring all new production processes are following all applicable company EHS Policies and Programs.Develop and Execute Design of Experiments for Lab Experiments, Pilot Plant Scale-Up and Production Scale-Up.Analyze Design of Experiment data identifying result compared to expectations and opportunities for improvement.Analyze the production requirements of products and ensure ERP data are correct.

Plant Support (30%)

Assist in ensuring all production processes are following all applicable company EHS Policies and Programs.Lead process improvement team activities utilizing continuous improvement methodologies including but not limited to Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing techniques.Plan, develop and implement quality and manufacturing process changes that yield improved Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE); production efficiencies, yields and rates.Lead/direct the installation and start-up of new processes and equipment.Supports Cap Ex Projects as assigned.Develop work instructions and provide training for operators on new and improved equipment and processes.

Data Analysis / Technical Management (20%)

Analyze product/process/quality data identifying opportunities for improvement and cost reduction.Ensure all operations and processes comply with ISO/QMS requirements.Evaluate equipment and process capabilities and make recommendations on equipment design and selection to improve Safety, OEE and Quality.Provide technical support on any production/product/quality issues as required.

REQUIRED SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS

Education and Experience:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering (with significant experience in chemical manufacturing) from an accredited university

Specialized Skills and Experience:

Minimum of 6-8 years’ engineering experience in a process manufacturing environment.Handles up to high complexity issues and problems and refers only the most difficult and complex issues to higher-level staff.Provides assistance to other team members on up to high complexity issues.Analytical thinking skills.Problem solving skills.Excellent communication (oral and written) and interpersonal skills.Highly organized in scheduling, executing responsibilities and prioritizing in a multitask environment.Self-starter, able to work alone with limited supervision.Team player - maintain a positive, cooperative attitude with all employees of LATICRETE and all customers.Leadership skills.Computer skills: Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Outlook. Mini-Tab or other similar software.Solids and liquids mixing expertise preferred.Solids and liquids packaging expertise preferred.

Travel Requirement: 

Up to 50% (domestic and international).Must have or be able to obtain a passport.

Physical Requirements:

Lift: Must be able to lift and/or carry a minimum of 50 pounds.   Push/Pull: Must be able to push/pull 25 pounds. Standing: Must be able to stand at least 50-75% of the day. Sitting:  Must be able to sit 25-50% of the day.Twisting/Bending:  Must be able to Twist/bend 50-75% of the day.Squatting, Climbing and/or Crawling:  Must be able to squat/climb/crawl 20% of the day.
