Position Purpose:
The Sr. Product Engineer will oversee appliances development for The Home Depot Private Brands group. As a critical business partner to the merchandising team, the engineer will lead one of the fastest-growing categories in private brands. The engineer will partner with Stakeholders, Packaging and Quality teams to conduct product benchmarking, competitive product analysis, requirements development, and analyze market feedback to form a complete understanding of customer expectations. Responsibilities include self-driven research, test setup and development, resolving product failures, interpretation of data, and implementing innovative engineering solutions. The engineer will leverage business intelligence tools, manufacturing processes, overseas vendors, value engineering, tear down, equipment and costs to formulate recommendations that guide Stakeholders when making critical business decisions. The Engineer will conduct evaluations and make recommendations that align with Home Depot’s strategic goals for quality and value. Strong business acumen, project management and financial knowledge are essential, enabling the engineer to effectively communicate findings and collaborate with the Merchant community in a constructive manner. Working in a team environment as an individual contributor, the engineer will play a pivotal role in delivering customer-focused, high-performing private brand appliance solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
50% Engineering project management including benchmarking, product requirement development, and test protocol development30% Conduct financial and value based calculations, summarize the findings for the business in presentation quality format and communicate findings to key stakeholders10% Complete resolution of product performance concerns10% Provide general product Engineering guidance and knowledge or evaluations as required to deliver short term business goals

Typically requires overnight travel less than 10% of the time.
Physical Requirements:
Most all of the time is spent sitting in the same position or standing/walking or there is some requirement to lift or handle material or equipment of moderate weight (8-20 pounds).
Working Conditions:
Located in a comfortable indoor area. Any unpleasant conditions would be infrequent and not objectionable.
