Sr. Product Manager, Payments Platform

Job Description Summary:

What you need to know about the role:
PayPal is committed to building and scaling the next generation of payment integration technologies for merchants, consumers, and developers globally. We are seeking a strategic and technically skilled Senior Product Manager, Payments Platforms to lead the development and optimization of scalable payments platforms.

The ideal candidate will have a deep understanding of the payments ecosystem, experience working with cross-functional teams, and the ability to address diverse payments needs across geographies. Your expertise in payments orchestration technologies and regional payment variations will be instrumental in creating innovative solutions that meet the evolving demands of global customers.

To be successful in this role, knowledge about payments technology is helpful. Understanding global payments network using cards, ACH, bank transfers, real-time payments, alternative payment methods, payment gateways, tokenization, risk and fraud management, and security standards is key. Knowledge about emerging technologies like Pay Later, cryptocurrencies, embedded payments, and global wallets is helpful.

As a Senior Product Manager, you will define the roadmap for payments platform capabilities, collaborate with engineering and business teams, and deliver solutions that drive adoption, enhance user experiences, and ensure reliability at scale. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge payment technologies and shape the future of payments infrastructure.

Your day-to-day:

Payments platform strategy:

Develop and execute a product roadmap for payments platforms, addressing global payment needs and ensuring seamless integration with internal and external systems.Build platforms to adopt local and alternative payment solutions, card networks, and banking payment methods. Familiarity with emerging technologies and open-source standards is advantageous.Build payments orchestration platforms, tokenization capabilities, and backend systems. Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams to deliver technical solutions.Design solutions that address regional variations in payments needs, regulatory requirements, and cultural preferences.

Drive cross-functional partnerships to platform solutions:

Partner with engineering, design, data, and business teams to deliver high-quality, scalable solutions that align with organizational objectives and customer needs.Leverage analytics and market research to identify opportunities, measure performance, and optimize platform capabilities for better efficiency and reliability.

Scale payment solutions using voice of customer:

Stay ahead of industry trends to incorporate emerging payment options, such as digital wallets, real-time payments, and cryptocurrency, into platform capabilities.Articulate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively to diverse audiences, including technical and non-technical stakeholders.

What you need to bring:

8+ years of product and platform experience, within the payments or financial technology sectors, with a proven track record of launching and scaling products that deliver quantifiable value to customers (consumers and/or merchants).Understanding about global payments network using cards, ACH, bank transfers, real-time payments, alternative payment methods, payment gateways, tokenization, risk and fraud management is key.Strong knowledge of regulatory requirements such as PCI-DSS, GDPR, PSD2, and AML/KYC standards. Experience implementing encryption and tokenization solutions.Ability to collaborate effectively with engineering teams to build and enhance payment solutions. Experience with APIs, payment gateways, and backend systems is crucial.A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related technical field is helpful in this role.Fluency in English and strong communication skills required.

The U.S. national annual pay range for this role is

$82500 to $187990
