Amazon.com
At Amazon, we're working to be the most customer-centric company on earth. To get there, we need exceptionally talented, bright, and driven people. If you'd like to help us build the place to find and buy anything online, this is your chance to make history.
Amazon Global Procurement Technology (GPT) is seeking an experienced Sr. Product Manager (Technical) to envision, define and deliver Amazon's digitally integrated and automated Indirect Supply Chain.
This role takes responsibility for partnering with internal business leaders and users to identify the most impactful business needs where technology solutions can deliver worldwide customer value to make Amazon's source-to-pay process even more efficient; develops solutions in partnership with cross-organizational technology teams and third party software vendors, and plots the course to bring strategic business solutions to life through technology.
The successful candidate will bring clarity to ambiguous problems while collaborating with Program Managers and Engineers to plan and deliver impactful technology solutions. Developing 1-3 year strategies and product roadmaps, decomposing releases into prioritized feature-sets, defining adoption and product success metrics metrics, analyzing and recommending best-fit solutions across internal and external software offerings and identifying opportunities to integrate systems into a cohesive user experience ecosystem, the GPT Sr. PM-T has the opportunity to drive innovation and measurable business results on a global scale.
Applicants will demonstrate experience developing new software technology products and evolving existing products through the Product Lifecycle, leveraging market research, customer and user research, and mapping existing solutions to critical business requirements. Success requires the ability to spot an opportunity, research and develop a product solution concept, use expertly crafted narratives and data to propose new product investments, and then mobilize product development through requirements, design, roadmapping, development and launch. They will also have experience aligning to measurable business goals (KPIs or OKRs), developing product strategies, forming business sponsor and governance groups and user focus groups, creating product road maps, detailing functional and non-functional requirements, crafting solution recommendations, facilitating business and technical meetings, partnering with resources outside of the team to get things done, making priority trade-off decisions, managing customer expectations, generating product buzz and communicating to a large number of stakeholders. The candidate will have experience managing complex and integrated products that leverage resources across multiple engineering and stakeholder groups.
The role is expected to communicate effectively to all levels within the company, both in writing and in meetings.
The ideal candidate will have technical expertise, including an understanding of systems design using AWS cloud components, able to actively participate in architecture and design discussions, able to independently resolve integration challenges with external teams, and review ERD, state diagrams, cloud infrastructure diagrams, and related technical documents. The GPT team makes heavy use of native AWS infrastructure, including ECS/Fargate, EBS, EC2, Lambda, DynamoDB, RedShift, GLue, S3, Athena and QuickSite (among other services). Since our engineering teams will include PM-T's in their internal design reviews, our PM-T's need to understand these types of cloud services to actively participate and ensure that the architecture and design presented by engineers align well with non-functional requirements and long-term business value.
The successful candidate will thrive in a fast paced environment, deals well with ambiguity, develops and builds clarity, and is willing to roll up their sleeves to dig into any initiative or business problem. The candidate will have high standards for themselves and everyone they work with, and will be constantly looking around corners to prevent short sighted decisions while making trade-off decisions to optimize time-to-market. We are looking for a proven ability to work closely with the engineering team, and someone who is excited to take on new, ambiguous product domains that rely on the candidate's ability to generate clarity, solutions and a path to successful outcomes.
