Our Life Science Specialists are responsible for the sales of research products and services specific to life science within a defined territory, serving customers engaged in academic, pharmaceutical, biomedical, and other fields of research and development. The Life Science Specialists maintain effective customer relations, develop opportunities for growth within an existing customer base, and assure market penetration and profitability while achieving sales and profit forecasts. Location: Remote based in San Diego, CA

Key responsibilities will be:Support multiple research sales representatives by providing information specific to life science, including technical information, product recommendations for customer applications, and other life science supportDevelop and maintain effective customer relations with all customers and potential customers in the assigned territory. Seek out broader relationships within the account to help facilitate networking and prospectingDevelop and implement sales strategies and plans to expand business within assigned territory; maintain a pipeline of opportunities to meet or exceed sales objectivesMaintain awareness and understanding of competitor and industry activity and keep informed of new products/services and other general information of interest to customers. Incorporate this data into the business planIntroduce new products and services to customers as applicableLead pricing within territory to control profitabilityMaintain accurate reporting, records, and files vital for proper management of territoryBe aware of supply and price trends and support customer inquiries and communications as requiredPositively represent Thermo Fisher Scientific at all times throughout customer locations

Keys to Success:

EducationBachelor’s degree, preferably in the sciences, M.S. or PhD preferred

Experience4+ years of sales experience, preferably in the research laboratory industry OR lab experienceStrong technical and lab experience in molecular, protein and/or cell biology

Knowledge, Skills, AbilitiesExcellent knowledge in Proteomic, Genomic, Gene expression and/or tissue cultureStrong interpersonal, oral and written communication, and presentation skillsComputer proficiency in MS Office and the internetMust possess the social skills to multi-task and meet deadlines as neededStrong industry, pharmaceutical and science background preferredAble and willing to travel to customer locationsDemonstrates the Thermo Fisher values (The Four I’s) – Integrity, Intensity, Innovation, and Involvement

Compensation and Benefits

This position may also be eligible to receive a variable annual bonus based on company, team, and/or individual performance results in accordance with company policy. We offer a comprehensive Total Rewards package that our U.S. colleagues and their families can count on, which includes:

Compensation and Benefits

The salary range estimated for this position based in California is $83,300.00–$124,925.00.
