Job Description:
As a Sr. Production Quality Engineer, you will play a critical role in maintaining product quality and ensuring process integrity throughout the production cycle. Your responsibilities will include conducting product reviews, developing inspection procedures, analyzing complex specifications, and facilitating root cause analysis to implement effective corrective actions. You will lead zero-defect initiatives and champion continuous improvement projects with a strong focus on reducing the cost of poor quality (COPQ).
In this role, you will collaborate closely with teams across production, engineering, and supply chain to promote a unified quality approach. You will utilize advanced quality tools and methodologies, such as Lean Six Sigma and FMEA, to drive data-driven recommendations, identify opportunities for improvement, and implement quality plans. Your efforts will focus on enhancing test and inspection techniques, resolving quality discrepancies, ensuring compliance with product specifications, and fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
The ideal candidate will be a strong problem solver with expertise in quality engineering tools and a proven ability to lead cross-functional teams in driving impactful solutions that enhance production/manufacturing quality.
Essential Functions:
Develop and implement quality plans, including quality checks, Statistical Process Control (SPC), and other performance metrics to monitor and maintain product and process quality.Analyze and resolve quality discrepancies related to assembly, mechanical, electrical, and electro-mechanical systems by conducting root cause analysis and implementing corrective actions using statistical methods, Lean manufacturing principles, and problem-solving techniques.Collaborate with manufacturing, engineering, vendors, and government/customer representatives to ensure requirements are met and recommend necessary corrective actions or process modifications.Spearhead quality improvement initiatives and projects across multiple departments to drive operational excellence and reduce cost of poor quality (COPQ).Utilize tools such as designed experiments and Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) to enhance processes and drive continuous improvement.Promote and standardize Lean Six Sigma methodologies to simplify processes and achieve consistent quality improvements. Develop and implement metrics to track and enhance quality and business performance.Ensure product compliance with specifications and quality standards through thorough review, disposition, and process validation.Present data-driven findings and actionable recommendations to management to address quality challenges and improve operational efficiency.Provide mentorship and training to junior engineers and cross-functional teams on quality standards, tools, and best practices. Ensure adherence to quality processes and promote a culture of quality throughout the organization.Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree and minimum 6 years of prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree and a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.Preferred Additional Skills:
Possess strong problem solving and analytical skills and an innate desire to learn and continually improve.
