UPMC St. Margaret is currently hiring a Part-Time Professional Staff Nurse (RN) to join our IV Team! In this role, you will use your critical thinking skills to determine appropriate line uses on patients within the hospital across their inpatient stay. You will work closely with physicians to determine appropriate vessel and device selection based on patient need. Inter-collaborative practice with bedside nurses is essential, as is the ability to operate independently and as a member of the care team. Educating within the hospital on different advanced lines, and the care of vascular access devices will be a key part of your responsibilities.
The position involves a rotating schedule of days, evenings, and weekends, with part-time hours consisting of two 12-hour shifts. The shift times are 6 AM, 9 AM, and 2 PM, and you will be required to work four 2 PM shifts per 6-week scheduling period. While there are no on-call duties or travel requirements, you will need to work five weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling period and two holidays (one in winter and one in summer), with holiday selections based on seniority.
We are looking for candidates with at least 6 months of nursing experience, preferably in Acute/Critical Care, and previous IV team experience is highly desirable. The ability to operate independently, collaborate effectively with bedside nurses, and educate others on vascular access devices are key attributes for success in this role.
