The AWS FinTech team seeks a Senior Program Manager to join our Finance Automation Acceleration (FAA) team. The position supports and can directly influence Finance Automation including accumulated technical debts in AWS. The AWS FinTech organization builds new best-in-class internal finance products. Our organization rewards intellectual curiosity while maintaining customer obsession and delivering results. Our mission is to make Finance more efficient and effective through automation. The ideal candidates will dive deep, is biased for action, earn trust through broad stakeholder influence. They have deep experience in Finance, Accounting, Program Management and Finance Systems. Candidate experience should cover financial processes, project management, requirement gathering, process design, and testing. The candidate would have experience working with engineering teams in process automation initiatives. This role is inherently cross-functional and highly visible with senior leadership. The leader will be passionate about customer experience, innovation, and cross-team partnerships to deliver business impact. They will prepare strategic recommendations, roadmaps and program updates to senior management. In this role you will experience a wide range of problem-solving situations with a singular focus on the long-term strategy of the AWS Finance organization.
Key job responsibilities
The successful candidate will:
• Have strong program management experience influencing and earning the trust of senior stakeholders and enabling business teams to deliver results .
• Have strong written and verbal communication skills with a customer focused, detail driven, and professional demeanor.
• Identify and analyze data to isolate issues, develop solutions and prioritize opportunities for servicing Finance.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to device the right mechanisms that enables timely execution of programs.
• Be independently driven, resourceful, and able to deliver results with minimal direction maintaining a strong sense of urgency and commitment.
• Be a problem solver, able to multi-task, learn, and think about what to do next even in high pressure scenarios.
• Have a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced and highly ambiguous work environment with a desire to build structure where there is none.
• Remain flexible to changing priorities, open to new ideas and have selling partner quality as the top focus.
• Be a visible and vocal role model across the wider business for Amazon’s customer-centric culture, championing Finance’s needs and using data and technology to anticipate and exceed them
A day in the life
In this role you will work across AWS to drive end-to-end automation to support growth at scale. This role is inherently cross-functional, and you will work closely with tech engineering, product management, legal, finance, tax, and financial operations to deliver new capabilities to our customers. You will work across stakeholder groups to eliminate ambiguity while maintaining a firm grasp over the operational aspects of your programs.
Basic Qualifications
- 5+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience using data and metrics to determine and drive improvements
- Experience owning program strategy, end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership
- Bachelor's degree
Preferred Qualifications
- 7+ years of program or project management experience
- Experience managing accounting/finance process improvement and/or technology projects with aggressive schedules
- Good understanding of modern program management methodologies like Agile/Scrum/Lean, etc. and experience in partnering with engineering teams and basic understanding of the SDLC process.
- Experience in understanding E2E process/data flows and identifying automation gaps.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate and manage relationships with senior leadership and stakeholders to drive results.
- Experience optimizing for short term execution while planning for long term technical capabilities.
- Experience in managing cross-functional initiatives through influence versus direct management.

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $104,100/year in our lowest geographic market up to $185,000/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
